Must read

Air pollution, this invisible health threat, carries a large amount of harmful substances and fine particles (PM2.5), which can penetrate the respiratory system and reach the lungs, becoming the cause of asthma, rhinitis, bronchitis, and cardiovascular diseases, and may even lead to lung cancer. In order to ensure everyone can enjoy a clean Spring Festival, an experienced traditional Chinese medicine practitioner shared his anti-smog wisdom.

The first line of defense for protecting the lungs: massaging the Taiyuan acupoint. The Taiyuan acupoint, as a key point of the lung meridian, is crucial for maintaining lung health. By massaging this acupoint, respiratory discomfort such as coughing, wheezing, and chest tightness can be effectively relieved. It is located on the inside of the wrist, near where the radial artery pulses. It is recommended to press and massage it twice daily with the thumb, maintaining each session for 3 to 5 minutes, to promote blood circulation and enhance cardiopulmonary function.

Diet therapy: harnessing the power of nature to resist smog. Adopting traditional Chinese diet therapy can easily and healthily combat smog invasion. Including lung-cleansing foods like radish, black fungus, mushrooms, pears, Chinese yam, and lotus root in daily diet, and recommending two simple recipes: Astragalus lung-nourishing tea and health-preserving spleen-strengthening porridge. The former combines astragalus, Rhodiola, and winter melon seeds to make a tea for morning and evening consumption; the latter is made from lotus seeds, fox nuts, and rice, consumed once daily, helps stabilize the mind and enhance physique.

Physical anti-smog strategies: protective measures in daily life. In addition to internal nourishment, external protection is equally important. When facing smog, avoid opening windows for ventilation; reduce outdoor activities and opt for indoor exercise; wear masks and hats when going outside; clean the face and hands promptly upon returning home. These seemingly simple measures can effectively build a solid smog barrier.

By following these recommendations, not only during the Spring Festival but throughout the year, you can provide comprehensive care for your lungs. Of course, on the road to anti-smog measures, everyone may have unique insights, feel free to leave comments to exchange ideas and explore more anti-smog tips together.
