In order to further transform the professional advantages of the “Healthy Neighborhood” resources into tangible benefits for the public, and to increase residents’ attention and awareness of healthy living, recently, the Fenglin Street in Xuhui District has launched a series of health service activities targeting different groups of people.

The “Healthy China Mother Action” Baiyulan Shanghai Action – “Menopausal Period, Menstrual Disorders” health promotion activity was held at the Fenglin Street Community Party and Mass Service Center. The event invited Professor Wang Ling from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital affiliated with Fudan University to give a lecture, aiming to effectively enhance the self-care awareness of middle-aged and elderly women. During the event, Wang Ling introduced the concept and symptoms of the menopausal period, explained the long-term hazards of estrogen deficiency on women, and the best period for improving ovarian function. Regarding the management methods for the menopausal period, Wang Ling pointed out the importance of developing good lifestyle and dietary habits, controlling weight, engaging in reasonable exercise, seeking timely medical guidance for any specific problems, and improving menopausal symptoms through professional methods.

After the lecture, Wang Ling led medical staff from the Shanghai Women Physicians Association to carry out free clinic activities, patiently answering various health questions and providing rational treatment suggestions and health guidance based on individual conditions. Aunt Zhang happily commented, “I have always been worried about health issues, but after the detailed explanation from the doctor today, I feel much relieved. This event is very timely.”

During the summer vacation, student volunteers from Fudan University School of Medicine visited the Ankang Neighborhood Activity Room and conducted a mental health lecture for parent-child families in the Ankang community.

The volunteers first guided the children to recognize their own stress through the “Drink Awareness” exercise, and analyzed the sources and manifestations of stress. Through video explanations, real-life case interactions, and other methods, the volunteers scientifically analyzed the sources of stress for the children. Subsequently, through teaching the “landing” exercise, the children learned common stress coping measures and emotional management techniques, guiding them to pay attention to mental health, face stress and emotions bravely, and adopt a more positive and optimistic attitude to confront the challenges in life and study.

What kind of spark will be generated by the combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and anti-drug activities? Recently, Fenglin Street conducted a drug prevention and health promotion experience at the Shanghai Acupuncture Meridian Research Institute. The event specially incorporated knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy which focuses on adjusting the overall imbalance of the body, aligning with the comprehensive physical and mental recovery goal pursued by drug rehabilitation. A moxibustion experience area was set up at the event, and under the guidance of Dr. Yang Ling from the acupuncture institute, volunteers personally experienced the charm of moxibustion. As the warm qi circulated within their bodies, bringing relaxation and comfort, volunteers felt the profoundness of Traditional Chinese Medicine culture, providing strong support for their future participation in anti-drug work.
