Poor constitution is a common problem for many people, if not properly regulated, it may lead to more serious health consequences. Traditional Chinese medicine provides various regulation methods for different constitutions, let’s explore how to effectively regulate based on our own conditions.
Nourishing Yin Constitution: Those with Yin deficiency often feel warm palms and soles, night sweats, irritability, difficulty falling asleep, red cheeks, lean physique, dry mouth and tongue, unquenchable thirst even with drinking plenty of water. Suitable foods for them include spinach, pears, watermelon and other fruits and vegetables rich in water and fiber, as well as duck meat, honey and other nourishing foods. Spicy, hot, fried foods should be avoided, especially hot pot, as many of its seasonings are taboo for those with Yin deficiency.
Nourishing Yang Constitution: Those with Yang deficiency are particularly afraid of cold, with cold hands and feet, prone to frostbite, low activity willingness, preferring to curl up for sleep, frequent urination, diarrhea with thin stools. They should consume warm, high-calorie, high-protein foods such as lamb, shrimp, pepper. Cold-natured foods like duck meat, water chestnut should be avoided.
Nourishing Qi Constitution: Those with Qi deficiency have insufficient physical strength, easy fatigue, dizziness, less speech, sweating easily, wind aversion, prone to colds, worsening symptoms after fatigue. They should eat sweet, mild, easily digestible foods like beef, dates, Chinese yam. Reduce intake of raw, greasy, spicy foods such as grapefruit, betel nut.
Nourishing Blood Constitution: Those with blood deficiency have pale complexion, pale eyelids, nails, dizziness, blurred vision, dry hair, dry skin, palpitations, poor sleep quality, and women may have less menstrual flow. Foods high in iron, protein, and vitamins like animal liver, mandarin fish, spinach are beneficial for them, while cold and raw foods should be reduced, such as water chestnut.
Through the above guidance, we can choose suitable foods for regulation based on our own constitution characteristics, gradually improve our constitution, and enhance our health. Remember, appropriate physical exercise is also an indispensable part of strengthening the constitution.
