Symptoms of Irritability in Menopausal Men

Must read

In the perception of most people, menopause is often closely associated with women, but in reality, men also experience a physiological stage called “male menopause” or “late-onset hypogonadism.” Although the symptoms of male menopause are not as significant and widespread as in women, some men may experience a series of emotional and behavioral changes during this period, with manic symptoms being particularly noteworthy.

Heightened emotions and irritability: Men in menopause may experience abnormally heightened emotions in a manic state, easily becoming angry over trivial matters, showing extreme irritability and impatience. They may struggle to control their emotions, be overly sensitive to the words and actions of others, and may even exhibit aggressive behavior.

Energetic but unfocused: While patients feel energetic, this energy often cannot be effectively converted into practical action or creative work. They may show excessive activity, but have difficulty concentrating, experience scattered thoughts, and struggle to complete tasks requiring prolonged focus.

Overinflated self-evaluation: During the manic phase, male patients may have unrealistic overinflated evaluations of their abilities and achievements, displaying an arrogant, self-aggrandizing, even conceited attitude.

Reduced need for sleep: Contrary to conventional wisdom, patients with manic symptoms often do not require much sleep. They feel energetic all night, find it hard to fall asleep or wake up early, leading to decreased sleep quality.

Impulsive behavior and increased risks: Patients are more likely to make impulsive decisions and engage in high-risk activities. These behaviors often disregard consequences, posing potential dangers to the patients and those around them.

Manic symptoms in menopause are a psychological issue that requires attention and consideration. Through comprehensive treatment and active lifestyle adjustments, patients can effectively alleviate symptoms, improve their quality of life, and smoothly navigate through this unique period.
