Cancer patients should be cautious when eating mooncakes.

Must read

Cancer patients should lean towards foods rich in protein, vitamins, and suitable carbohydrates in their diet choices. Mooncakes do not meet these requirements, so they are not suitable as an additional meal. If you really want to taste them, it is recommended to incorporate them into a regular meal and accompany them with fresh vegetables or light tea to balance out their sweetness.

For processed foods such as sausages, bacon, etc., due to their high salt and high fat content, it is recommended to reduce consumption, especially for patients with breast cancer, prostate cancer, and colorectal cancer. When enjoying a family hotpot meal, a variety of vegetables are essential, while processed products like fish balls, shrimp balls should be consumed in moderation. During festive banquets, in addition to fish, meat, and eggs, do not forget to include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to ensure a balanced diet.

For patients undergoing treatment with poor appetite, it is advisable to eat small amounts of high-nutrient foods multiple times a day during the optimal appetite periods, and even increase the number of meals to five or six per day.

For patients with dry mouth and swallowing difficulties, soft and delicate foods such as soft noodles and congee are more suitable, which can be consumed with soups or blended for easier eating.

In terms of dietary taboos, it is advised to quit smoking, limit alcohol, avoid spicy and irritating foods, reduce intake of sticky, hard-to-digest foods, eat in moderation, and avoid overeating.

For constipated patients, improving the condition can be achieved by increasing the intake of high-fiber foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables or choosing foods rich in probiotics, combined with moderate exercise to promote bowel movements. On the contrary, patients with diarrhea should opt for low-fiber foods such as congee, fine noodles, steamed eggs, and low-oil dishes to ease the burden on the digestive system.
