Must read

Nowadays, our living standards have improved, and people’s lifespans have also increased, with many individuals reaching the ages of 70 or 80.

With the betterment of life, people have begun paying more attention to health preservation. While there are quite a number of elderly individuals in their 70s and 80s, there are very few centenarians.

When it comes to those who can live past a hundred years while still maintaining good health, one cannot help but wonder how they have maintained their health so well at such an advanced age.

Let’s take a look at Mrs. Wang, a 101-year-old, and hear her insights on health preservation.

Mrs. Wang from Pucun is 101 years old. If you didn’t know her age, you would assume she is no more than in her 80s.

Despite her age, Mrs. Wang is in good health. Sometimes, she secretly takes the vegetables she grows to the nearby market to sell and make a little money, causing her children to worry. She mentions that she enjoys the bustling crowds at the market.

Her eldest son is almost 80 years old but also radiates a healthy glow.

Mrs. Wang has seven children. Every Chinese New Year, her eldest son borrows tables and stools from neighbors to accommodate her large extended family, creating a lively atmosphere that the villagers admire.

Mrs. Wang is always smiling and hospitable, welcoming everyone with a cheerful “What’s up? Come in and sit for a while.”

Therefore, whenever she is at home, there is always a group of people sitting with her, chatting away. People often inquire about her secret to maintaining good health at her age.

When asked about her wellness secrets, Mrs. Wang just laughs and says, “I can’t even read a single word, what do I know about secrets.”

So people start asking her about her daily life, eating habits, and what she usually eats.

Actually, when it comes to health secrets, Mrs. Wang doesn’t consciously follow any particular regime.

Despite her present lively family life, Mrs. Wang faced hardship in her earlier years. Her husband passed away early, and she raised their seven children all by herself.

Back when there wasn’t enough food to eat, she would often go to the hillsides to forage for wild vegetables. She has tried locust flowers and shepherd’s purse, even some wild plants that tasted bitter and were unpopular, she still ate.

Whether the frequent consumption of wild vegetables boosted her immunity, Mrs. Wang and her seven children seldom fall ill,

If she ever feels a bit unwell, she drinks warm water, takes a rest, and soon feels better.

The elderly lady doesn’t fuss about food. She eats whatever is available. However, she has one small habit of having a sip of rice wine before bedtime.

Mrs. Wang mentions that this drinking habit started when her relative visited, who loved alcohol and insisted she drink half a cup even though she was not a drinker.

Interestingly, that night she felt exceptionally warm and comfortable while sleeping and woke up the next morning feeling rejuvenated.

Since then, she developed a liking for a sip of wine before bed, a habit she has maintained to this day.

Aside from her nightly wine, Mrs. Wang is always active.

Sometimes she has a bowl of rice gruel in the morning or cooks a bowl of noodles. After breakfast, she heads to the fields to work. She mentions that working in the fields makes her body feel exceptionally comfortable.

She even enjoys the fragrance of the grass at the edge of the fields, the chirping of birds in the mountains, feelings that she cannot experience by staying indoors.

Mrs. Wang doesn’t like staying indoors; she prefers open spaces. She mentions that apart from meals and sleep, she only stays inside when the weather is bad. However, when at home, if no one talks to her, she feels restless and even dozes off sitting on a chair.

A straightforward person, Mrs. Wang doesn’t hold back her thoughts. When she was younger, she often quarreled with people in the village, yet nobody took offense because she would speak her mind and easily let go of any disagreements, returning to greet others happily.

Mrs. Wang mentions that life has improved for everyone now, and she has developed a fondness for eating meat, ensuring every meal includes some along with vegetables.

She maintains that she doesn’t deliberately plan her diet for health but eats whatever she feels like, buying whatever she sets her eyes on.

She dislikes tea, mentioning that she used to drink spring water when thirsty, but now, her children advise against cold water, so she drinks warm water. She says the village water is sweet, and boiling it takes away its taste.

Conclusion:

Mrs. Wang’s life may seem ordinary,

But her routines and lifestyle reflect a cheerful and active individual.

Living in an environment with clean air, picturesque scenery, and her optimistic nature may indeed be the secret to longevity everyone seeks.

As individuals embark on their life journeys, regardless of how long they may live, it’s important not to obsess over the length of life but to live freely and happily, taking things easy. After toiling for half a lifetime, in old age, let’s maintain a positive attitude and enjoy each day with a smile.
