Introduction
Suicide refers to a dangerous behavior in which an individual voluntarily ends their own life, driven by prolonged and complex psychological activities.
A psychologist stated that there are many reasons that lead people to suicide; however, the most common reasons are as follows:
First, psychologically disordered suicide
This type of suicide generally refers to the destruction of an individual’s inherent relationships with society, leading to psychological disorder, and in a state of confusion, the individual chooses to commit suicide.
Second, fatalistic suicide
This type of suicide is often influenced by fatalism, leading the individual to believe that suicide is their destiny; hence, they choose to end their life by this means.
Third, self-directed suicide
This type of suicide is often due to loneliness. As they exist in a state of being uncared for for a long time, they lose hope in life, and in a state of hopelessness, they choose to commit suicide.
Fourth, altruistic suicide
This type of suicide is often chosen due to being misunderstood by the outside world. Feeling anger and irritation from this misunderstanding, individuals may choose to end their lives to prove that the external perceptions of them are incorrect.
The psychologist further stated that currently, altruistic suicide accounts for the highest proportion among all types of suicide, with a significant number of suicide cases belonging to altruistic suicide, commonly referred to as “driven to death by others.”
In fact, this psychologist’s statement makes a lot of sense. On June 2nd, a woman in Wuhan, Hubei, committed suicide by jumping from a building, and her suicide seems to validate this psychologist’s claim!
So, what exactly happened?
Next, let’s discuss this matter.
Event
On the afternoon of June 2nd, a heart-wrenching piece of news topped the trending topics, stating, “The mother of a child who was killed by a car inside a school in Wuhan jumped to her death.” Many internet users were initially skeptical when the news broke, but as numerous media outlets continued to report on it, many came to believe that the news was not false.
Earlier reports stated that the mother of the child, surnamed Yang, had lost her son, Tan, who was hit and run over by a car on May 23rd while on campus. Despite emergency rescue efforts at the hospital, Ms. Yang’s son tragically passed away.
Previous reports also indicated that the driver who ran over Ms. Yang’s son was a young teacher at the school, surnamed Liu, who has since been criminally detained by the public security authorities. The court will pursue Liu’s legal responsibilities based on the investigation results.
In theory, since the teacher Liu, responsible for Tan’s death, has been criminally detained by the authorities, and since a life cannot be restored, Ms. Yang should have come to terms with it. However, why would Ms. Yang choose to end her precious life through suicide?
A netizen who had interacted with Ms. Yang stated that after her son Tan’s death, she had negotiated with the school. During the negotiation, her image was repeatedly reported by the media. Due to Ms. Yang’s striking beauty and her well-dressed appearance, some unscrupulous netizens questioned whether she was using her child’s death for attention. Additionally, many malicious comments about Ms. Yang appeared on social media. Under this immense psychological pressure, Ms. Yang, wanting to prove to netizens that she was not exploiting her child’s death for show, chose to jump to her death.
This netizen, who had interacted with Ms. Yang, angrily remarked: “It can be affirmed that Ms. Yang was driven to death by those unscrupulous netizens. Those who previously cyberbullied her should be held accountable for her death!”
Through this netizen’s account, it is not difficult to identify the underlying reasons for the suicide. It can be said that Ms. Yang’s death substantiates the psychologist’s claims—she was driven to death! Her suicide belongs to the category of “altruistic…”
