Data shows that approximately 30 million people nationwide exhibit obvious symptoms of depression, and many well-known celebrities have also died because of it.
The psychological state and personality traits of depression sufferers need no elaboration; they are merely psychologically fragile, introverted, closed off, tend to get stuck on trivial matters, and lack an open mind.
At the same time, this group of people shares a common characteristic: they are fundamentally kind-hearted, feel shame and guilt, and are good people who understand human nature.
Why do they choose to end their lives? Is it because life has become unbearable? What about those celebrities? They are free from financial worries and live comfortably; why would they also choose such a short-sighted path?
People with depression have a very obvious personality trait: they are relatively kind-hearted, somewhat introverted, inflexible when facing problems, and easily caught in despair.
To put it simply, they lack a thick skin; once they encounter significant setbacks in life, they can fall into a state of hopelessness and helplessness. Over time, they suffocate in the gloom.
There is a period of deep reflection, but what’s important is to change one’s mindset, to have a reset awareness, to start anew, with a hopeful future; this is the right path in life.
No one is born perfect. Just like Andy in “The Shawshank Redemption,” he was once a man filled with a sense of success and superiority; his resentment toward his wife and even thoughts of murder were normal reactions. But he did not expect life to progress toward an unbearable reality. He accepted the punishment and acknowledged his dark thoughts.
Isn’t Andy depressed? Doesn’t he have regrets? But what good would that do? Life is what it is; he can only start to think anew. He crawled out of that long corridor, endured a difficult process, and ultimately saved himself. For him, life is such a process; his normal existence no longer exists, and what he fights for is to escape this cage. That is his entire life: denying it would lead to depression and death, accepting it means striving to live.
Cast aside those overly self-deprecating thoughts; kindness is human nature, and it should not be your life’s support. Forget the beautiful past; your life starts from this moment, and you will successfully complete your journey in life.
