Often shaking legs or exposing psychological problems? Finally understand why some people love shaking legs

Must read

Do you have the habit of shaking your leg? In life, we may find a group of people who can’t help but shake their legs as soon as they sit down. Shaking legs can make oneself feel good, but others may find it annoying, so shaking legs has always been considered a bad habit. There is a common saying “poor leg-shaker,” meaning that shaking legs is a sign of poor manners. Many people may have developed the habit of shaking legs later in life, but it’s not that simple. So, why do some people shake their legs frequently?

Why do some people shake their legs?

Shaking legs may seem like a simple action, but it actually reflects a person’s psychological issues. There are people who are naturally lively, open-minded, optimistic, and lead a positive life. These people can’t help but shake their legs when they are in a good mood, in a comfortable environment, or when they are thinking about something. When they shake their legs, it mainly conveys a sense of joy.

Then there are those who lack confidence, always worrying about not doing things well, not achieving their goals, or not meeting their own expectations. When doing something, they feel anxious. When feeling anxious, more blood flows to the legs, causing leg shaking. For example, some people can’t help but shake their legs when they worry about not doing well in exams. These people shake their legs to relieve their anxiety and tension.

There are also people who shake their legs for no apparent reason. Neither happy nor anxious, they simply enjoy shaking their legs as soon as they sit down. This indicates that they have unknowingly developed the habit of shaking legs and are forcing themselves to do it continuously, suggesting a tendency towards compulsion.

Furthermore, some people shake their legs not due to psychological issues but because of physical problems. When there are issues with the lumbar spine, a person may unconsciously shake their legs. Besides leg shaking, they may also shake their hands, have uncontrolled eye blinking, or be unable to control their body movements. If you can’t stop shaking your legs and often feel discomfort such as lower back pain, it’s important to take it seriously.

When a person has an unbalanced diet, leading to a lack of iron in the body, they may frequently experience leg shaking. Apart from leg shaking, lack of iron may cause a pale complexion, cold extremities, and irregular periods in females. If you can’t control leg shaking and experience these symptoms, you may need to consider iron supplementation.

If middle-aged or elderly people frequently shake their legs uncontrollably, it could be a sign of Restless Leg Syndrome. The main symptom is uncontrollable leg shaking, with discomfort in the calves at night or when sitting quietly. To alleviate this discomfort, they unconsciously shake their legs.

If you are not disturbing others and occasionally shake your legs, it can actually be beneficial for your health. Why is that? Nowadays, many people sit for long periods each day, which slows down blood circulation in the body. Shaking your legs at the right time can promote blood circulation, help blood flow back, and bring some slight benefits to the body.

However, shaking legs is still a rather annoying bad habit. If you have the habit of shaking your legs and want to overcome it, try taking a few deep breaths when you feel the urge to shake your legs. Deep breathing can help calm your emotions. Additionally, standing up for a while or walking a few steps when you feel like shaking your legs can promote overall blood circulation. After standing or walking, you may find that you no longer feel the need to shake your legs.
