People used to think that depression was just being unhappy, but in recent years, there have been too many people who feel hopeless due to depression, which has made everyone pay attention to depression. We will find that some people have stable jobs, happy families, but they still go down the wrong path because of depression. Depression is a very serious illness, so it must be taken seriously.

Many people don’t know the manifestations of depression, always thinking that being unhappy is depression. Some people may have symptoms of depression but are unaware, and if the condition progresses without treatment, it will only get worse. Although there are often unhappy events in life, thinking about happy things, adjusting one’s mood can improve emotions. However, some people cannot get out of negative emotions, and even after several days, they remain very low.

This situation is not about being melodramatic, but mostly caused by depression. These people may appear normal on the surface but may be sad and tearful in private. If low mood persists for more than a month, it needs attention, and psychological examination is recommended.

Many have seen examples of people who overeat or binge eat after experiencing setbacks. In reality, some people, when depressed, seek stimulation in certain ways. Eating can provide satisfaction and a distraction, but it often leads to weight gain. Some people, after depression hits, lose interest in eating, and in severe cases, refuse to eat, lose interest in everything, and if this continues long-term, it can lead to malnutrition and weight loss, which is extremely detrimental to health.

People with depression tend to feel inferior, constantly deny their own worth, believe their abilities are insufficient, and lose hope in life. They may consider life meaningless or uninteresting, unable to find their purpose, and may even consider suicide.

Those with depression often have racing thoughts, finding it difficult to fall asleep at night. Even if they do fall asleep, they are easily startled and may experience insomnia and vivid dreams, leading to a decline in sleep quality. While stress may result in insomnia, after stress relief, sleep usually improves. If sleep troubles persist, it must be taken seriously.

Depression may seem mild but can cause significant harm to mental and physical health, and easily disrupt normal life. To prevent depression, it is necessary to find ways to be happy.

Despite the constant advice to stay strong, sometimes it’s okay to let it all out and have a good cry, allowing emotions to be released, which can help prevent depression. After crying, wash your face, put on a smile, eat something that makes you happy, adjust your mood, and gradually feel better.

When possible, go out and change the environment, breathe fresh air, appreciate the beauty around, and the sadness in your heart will lessen. Some people may be resistant to showing vulnerability, in which case playing games can help release emotions and relieve negativity.

Listening to soothing music can regulate moods. Remembering the good things that happened in life, recalling the warmth around you, can eliminate negative emotions. Alternatively, talk to someone, express your feelings, release emotions, and help ease feelings of depression. Find ways that make you happy and effectively stay away from depression.
