During the weight loss period, there’s always you who “breaks the rules.”

Must read

Many people experience a situation during their weight loss journey where their weight loss plan is going well, only to suddenly encounter unexpected circumstances that lead to eating a lot in one meal, or even binge eating.

Eating more than usual not only requires effort to burn off the extra calories, but it also impacts self-confidence. More importantly, the temptation of various delicious foods greatly increases, causing the determination to lose weight to waver.

No one wants to experience unexpected binge eating during their weight loss journey, but there are always situations that catch us off guard. Therefore, while practicing self-discipline, it’s important to be particularly vigilant when facing these circumstances.

Encountering Emotional Distress

Many people during their weight loss period may experience emotional lows for various reasons, such as unsuccessful weight loss or high work pressure. As food can help alleviate negative emotions, people often “eat to forget,” which psychologists refer to as “emotional eating.”

Emotional eating mostly involves high-calorie, sugar-laden, salty, and fatty foods, which can lead dieters to develop a dependency on certain foods, resulting in failure to lose weight and possibly causing weight regain to a state even heavier than before.

The most concerning dietary abnormality during weight loss is emotional eating. You should be cautious if you find yourself in situations such as feeling down and needing to eat a whole box of chocolates to cope; always wanting to comfort yourself with food while watching TV or facing stress; or feeling unable to work without having a mocha in the morning…

An important criterion for identifying emotional eating is that it is not triggered by true hunger, but rather in response to certain emotions. Therefore, to avoid emotional eating, one must correctly differentiate between normal eating and emotional eating. The underlying issues of overeating that lead to weight gain are often psychological problems. If you cannot control emotional eating, consider seeking counsel from a therapist.

Facing External Distractions

During weight loss, the ideal scenario is to maintain a stable and regular lifestyle. However, few people can truly maintain this state, as various situations arise that can be influenced by those around you and your environment. For instance, company dinners or gatherings with friends where someone orders you a bubble tea or buys a cream cake.

Yet external distractions are not just these obvious temptations; some are intangible. For example, cake photos or seeing someone eating fries while walking can be particularly tempting during your weight loss period.

To avoid these influences, you need strong willpower. If you feel your willpower is weak, then it’s best to avoid situations that provoke temptation.

Dealing with Menstrual Periods
