Smoking and drinking, if you must choose one, how would you choose?

Must read

For men, smoking and drinking are just like daily meals, and everyone knows that smoking and drinking have adverse effects on the body, but still cannot quit smoking or drinking.

Moreover, smoking and drinking are addictive, but relatively speaking, cigarettes are more addictive! Because we can see people with cigarettes everywhere, but rarely see people carrying alcohol, so in terms of addiction, smoking is more addictive than drinking!

So, someone raises a question: if you have to choose between smoking and drinking, how do you choose?

Which one causes less damage to the body, smoking or drinking?

In theory, smoking and drinking both cause significant harm to the body, but the areas of damage are different. In other words, smoking and drinking can harm different organs, so the harm from smoking and drinking can be greater for certain specific groups of people.

Therefore, whether smoking or drinking causes more harm to the body depends on the individual!

Alcohol mainly damages these parts:

Drinking harms the liver, which is common knowledge because alcohol needs to be metabolized through the liver. If you drink too much, alcohol will increase the metabolic burden on the liver, which can lead to liver damage and may even cause liver diseases, such as fatty liver, alcoholic liver disease, cirrhosis, and even liver cancer.

Drinking harms the kidneys – excessive drinking can lower male sexual function! This is because alcohol can harm kidney health, and excessive alcohol consumption can strain the kidneys. Over time, this can adversely affect male function.

Drinking harms the digestive system, especially long-term excessive drinking, can damage digestive health and may even lead to gastrointestinal diseases, such as acute gastroenteritis or even gastric ulcers.

Drinking harms the brain – excessive drinking affects the brain, impairs memory, slows down reactions, and increases the risk of stroke. Those with a history of strokes should strictly avoid alcohol consumption.

Tobacco harms almost all organs in the body

Smoking harms the lungs because harmful substances in cigarettes, especially tar and carbon monoxide, can adhere to the lungs, impair ciliary function, cause further lung damage, and can lead to lung diseases, including lung cancer.

Smoking harms the brain – smoking may also contribute to brain diseases because when smoking, blood and oxygen supply to the brain can be blocked, leading to blockages or hemorrhages in brain blood vessels and potentially causing strokes.

Smoking harms the heart – long-term smoking can severely damage heart health. Carbon monoxide in cigarettes reduces the body’s ability to absorb oxygen in the blood, leading to unstable blood pressure and possible heart muscle hypoxia, which may cause heart diseases.

If one must compare the damage to the body from smoking and drinking, smoking causes greater harm to the body! If you have a different opinion on this issue, feel free to leave a comment in the section below, and everyone can also follow the author for daily health knowledge sharing.
