What happens to a man if he avoids alcohol for a long time? Doctor: There may be some unexpected benefits.

Business can be discussed at the dinner table, as can friendships. Sometimes a man’s drinking capacity is seen as a measure of how “manly” he is. Many women also enjoy drinking, and their capacity may rival that of many men. When a group of close friends reunites after a long time, it’s certain that drinking will become a significant part of the table conversation. Without alcohol, there’s no fun, but once the drinking starts, it’s bound to be excessive and out of control. Moderate drinking can be beneficial for the body, but who doesn’t know that long-term drinking harms the liver? Yet sometimes, when the urge to drink hits, it’s truly hard to control oneself!

As is well known, there are no businessmen who cannot drink; many deals are made over drinks. For the sake of an investment or a project proposal, it’s commonplace for clients to drink to the point of gastric bleeding, which is seen as a normal occurrence among these businessmen. Some have even called this phenomenon “drinking culture.” However, doctors say: male friends would greatly benefit from quitting alcohol!

1. Repair the liver.

There is a condition called alcoholic liver disease; what does that mean? It means that if one regularly consumes alcohol, large amounts of alcohol enter the liver, placing a huge burden on it. This overbearing workload cannot be completed on time, resulting in alcohol remaining in the body, unable to be expelled or decomposed. Over time, this leads to alcoholic liver disease. However, if one quits drinking, the alcohol in the body might decompose one day and gradually be expelled, allowing liver cells to return to normal function. Healthy lifestyle and eating habits can restore a healthy liver!

2. Lower blood pressure.

Alcohol irritates the stomach, and similarly stimulates our blood pressure. Doctors often say that people with high blood pressure must avoid alcohol; this is common knowledge. When you put down the glass, cholesterol decreases and blood pressure stabilizes. Picking up the glass causes blood pressure to spike, and we cannot compete with cholesterol, so why gamble with our health?

3. Lower blood lipids.

Anyone who has ever drunk alcohol knows that drinking brings a spicy sensation, the liquid flowing down the throat feels warm. Generally, canned beer isn’t too noticeable, but high-alcohol spirits are much more intense. This indicates that drinking brings a huge amount of calories into the body, which can lead to weight gain. The origin of a beer belly can’t be separated from this. A heavy drinker is unlikely to successfully lose weight. If you want to “burn my calories,” you must start by putting down the glass.

The editor has something to say: It cannot be said that drinking has no benefits at all; moderate drinking can indeed promote our blood circulation and regulate metabolism. We do not advocate drinking nor prohibit it; for some, drinking is a way to drown sorrows or simply as a means of emotional release, but little do they know that drowning sorrows only leads to more sorrow! For some, it’s for livelihood, “making money over drinks.” Listen to the editor, regardless of the purpose, it is absolutely right to learn to control oneself!
