“Is it possible to get this disease at such a young age?” A man’s unspoken struggles may have quietly set their sights on you.

Must read

“I always thought I was so young, how could I get this condition?”

“How can I bring myself to tell others about this issue, thinking it will pass with time…”

“I have been to many hospitals, spent a lot of money in vain, and don’t know what to do…”

Prostatitis, a difficult-to-talk-about issue afflicting many male compatriots, let’s dig into it today!

Pay attention to these symptoms

Beware of prostatitis targeting you

Prostatitis refers to prostatic inflammation diseases caused by pathogenic infections and/or stimulation from non-infectious factors, mainly manifesting in two aspects:

Urethral irritation symptoms: frequent urination, urgency, dysuria, abnormal urination, and urethral discharge.

Local discomfort symptoms: experiencing swelling pain in the genital area, a sense of testicular swelling or aching, swelling pain in the lower abdomen and groin area, and a burning sensation in the perineum.

Prostatitis

Why does it “favor” young people?

The prostate is the largest accessory gland in males. During the youth period, it is a high incidence time for acute and chronic prostatitis, mainly due to two factors:

On one hand, it is due to unhealthy lifestyle habits. The youth period is a time of high male sexual activity, irregular sexual activity, abstinence or excessive indulgence, prolonged sitting, alcohol consumption leading to prostate congestion and inflammation. Additionally, smoking can also trigger prostatitis.

On the other hand, the youth period is also the peak secretion period of the prostate, providing favorable conditions for bacterial growth and reproduction. If combined with poor personal hygiene, low body resistance, or infections in nearby areas (such as the urethra), pathogens can enter the prostate, leading to acute or chronic inflammation.

Is prostatitis a sexually transmitted disease?

Is it contagious?

The vast majority of prostatitis cases are not sexually transmitted diseases and do not spread to sexual partners. Many chronic prostatitis patients do not have pathogenic infections, let alone transmission through sexual activity or being classified as sexually transmitted diseases.

However, there are exceptions, where a small number of prostatitis cases are caused by infections such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, mycoplasma, trichomonas, or fungi, clinically known as specific prostatitis, falling into the category of sexually transmitted diseases. They may be transmitted to the female partner during sexual activity, leading to various vaginal inflammations.

In the early stages of treating such prostatitis, sexual activity should be avoided. The female partner should also visit a gynecologist or dermatovenereologist clinic for examination, and if the female partner is also infected, both partners should receive treatment simultaneously.

Habits for improving male prostatic health

Chief Wang also reminds that prostatitis, like a “cold,” is just a “common disease of a special part” and can be cured but is prone to recurrences. Patients need timely treatment and prevention.

Exercise regularly

Strengthen exercises for the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks to provide prostatic massage and promote prostate health.

Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water promotes frequent urination and effectively dilutes urine concentration. Concentrated urine can irritate the prostate.

Avoid holding urine

Once the bladder is full and there is an urge to urinate, it should be done promptly. Holding urine is detrimental to the bladder and prostate.

Avoid spicy foods

Consuming excessive spicy foods, as well as smoking and alcohol consumption, are among the causes of prostatitis.

Avoid prolonged sitting

Prolonged sitting, like holding urine, can impede local blood circulation and lead to the accumulation of metabolic byproducts. Therefore, it is recommended to take a short break and move around every hour of work.

Control sexual activities

During the sexually active youth period, moderate and regular sexual activity or masturbation can help expel prostatic fluid, relieve prostatic congestion, improve local blood circulation, and promote the absorption and dissipation of inflammation.

Maintain cleanliness

Develop a habit of regularly cleaning the perineal area to keep it clean and dry, prevent retrograde infections, and prevent the onset of prostatitis.

Early diagnosis and treatment

Chronic prostatitis, urethritis, cystitis, and epididymitis should be promptly and thoroughly treated, and other urinary system diseases.
