What are the sexually transmitted diseases? Don’t be shy! Understand clearly, do not underestimate.

The continuous development of the socio-economy has brought about significant changes in people’s behaviors and lifestyles, and nowadays, the sexual concepts of young people are in a relatively open state.

However, the excessive openness of sexual concepts has led to an increasing trend in the incidence of diseases transmitted through sexual activities.

The emergence of such diseases can seriously affect patients’ reproductive health and physical well-being, while also placing a certain burden on society. Therefore, it is particularly important to carry out prevention and control work for these types of diseases.

Here are introductions to several commonly transmitted diseases that can be spread through sexual activities:

1. HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS, also known as Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), is a chronic infectious disease caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.

The onset of HIV/AIDS results in severe damage to the body’s immune system, leading to a significant reduction in immune function, making the body highly susceptible to various pathogenic microorganisms’ infections and invasions.

Due to the rapid spread and high mortality rate of HIV/AIDS, and the lack of an effective cure for the disease so far, it is crucial for people to recognize the serious dangers posed by HIV/AIDS.

2. Syphilis

Syphilis, a sexually transmitted disease caused by Treponema pallidum infection, can be transmitted not only through sexual activities but also through mother-to-child transmission and blood contact.

The harm caused by syphilis can affect all organs in the patient’s body, and pregnant women affected by syphilis can even experience serious consequences such as miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth, etc.

Ensuring safe sexual activities and comprehensive prenatal inspections are important measures to prevent syphilis.

3. Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is another sexually transmitted disease that can be spread through sexual activities. It is caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection, and the human body is its only natural host. Besides sexual activities, gonorrhea can also be transmitted through indirect contact.

However, the clinical symptoms exhibited by women after being affected by gonorrhea may differ from those in male patients.

4. Genital Warts

Genital warts are benign proliferative diseases caused by human papillomavirus infection and are the second-largest sexually transmitted disease in terms of incidence, following only gonorrhea.

The onset of genital warts causes abnormal growths on the skin mucosa of the anal and external genital areas.

Although patients can take measures to remove visible warts, genital warts are highly prone to recurrence, so patients need long-term repeated treatment.
