When will men experience menopause? What changes in the body indicate that the time has come?

Must read

If there is one of the most helpless troubles in life, what would you think it is? The answer from women who have experienced menopause is almost always menopause. Women entering menopause experience a series of troubles such as hot flashes, sweating, chest tightness, weakness, anxiety, irritability, and so on, which can indeed be very distressing. When women calculate menopause, it is mostly estimated using the number “seven”; at forty-nine, around 49 years old, menopause will arrive. In fact, menopause is not exclusive to women, men also experience it, which can make them feel helpless and troubled. So, at what age do men enter menopause? What are the physical signs indicating it?

At what age will men face menopause?

In the era without big data support, people often judged menopause based on reproductive ability. Women around 49 will lose their reproductive ability, signifying menopause. While men’s reproductive ability only declines without complete loss, a significant decline indicates the onset of menopause. In this aspect, women focus on 7, and men focus on 8. At sixty-four years old, men’s reproductive ability significantly declines, indicating the onset of menopause.

Some may ask, isn’t it said that men enter menopause at 40? In reality, this is an early onset of menopause. Ancient wisdom states that at forty, a man is not confused, and there is also a saying among the common people that men are like flowers at forty-one. If men are likened to fruits, thirty is the unripe fruit, and forty is the ripe fruit, the mature and charming age. Therefore, forty is not the start of menopause but an early stage.

The early onset is mostly due to the increased pressure on men and bad habits like smoking and drinking. Therefore, today, to determine if a man has entered menopause, age alone is not sufficient, and the body’s performance should also be considered.

What signs indicate that a man’s menopause has arrived?

Regardless of gender, menopause is a manifestation of aging. At menopause, worrying about aging will significantly affect emotions subconsciously. This anomaly is reflected not only in men’s emotions becoming anxious, depressed, irritable, helpless, etc., but also in emotional diversity and variability. One moment, they may be as mild as a lamb, and the next, they might be as aggressive as a lion or tiger, showcasing unpredictable changes. These emotional fluctuations indicate that menopause is approaching, or is being experienced.

Under emotional stimulation, hormone levels fluctuate, leading to various physical changes, such as loss of skin elasticity, with wrinkles, spots, and age spots becoming more prominent. Muscles also become flabby, transforming previously thick chest muscles and abdominal muscles into loose flesh, causing men to lose their masculine traits. Even body hair might start falling out, from hair, eyelashes, beard, to armpit hair, all unknowingly shedding, with hair scattered everywhere during showers.

Moreover, sleep becomes unrestful at night; where before sleep came easily, now there is an inexplicable anxiety and tension in bed, tossing and turning unable to rest. Even when asleep, there are more frequent dreams at night, along with night sweats. Waking up the next day often feels like not fully rested, lacking energy. Such behaviors indicate that a man might be approaching menopause.

Finally, it is advised not to panic about menopause’s arrival, regardless of gender. Menopause is just a turning point in life, indicating the end of youth and the beginning of a new phase. It’s time to change habits, engage in more physical activities, explore the world, as life after menopause can still be fulfilling and happy.
