What’s going on! Just had sex with my boyfriend, and when I went to the toilet, I felt a sharp pain in my urethra. What’s the matter? Could it be some gynecological issue?
A gynecologist from Hangzhou Xincheng Hospital pointed out that the pain during urination in women after intercourse may be due to vigorous sexual activity or it could be caused by urinary tract infections, urethritis, and other reasons. It is recommended to visit a hospital for examination to identify the cause and receive appropriate treatment.

Painful urination after intercourse?
1. Sexual factors
During intercourse, if the male partner’s movements are too vigorous, it may cause swelling and congestion of the female urethral mucosa, leading to the symptom of painful urination.
2. Urinary tract infection
Urinary tract infections are a common cause of painful urination, mainly caused by bacterial infections. Bacteria can easily enter the urethra and other areas during intercourse, leading to symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain.
3. Urinary tract stones
If a woman has kidney, ureter, or bladder stones, during intercourse, the stones may enter the urethra, irritating it and causing painful urination afterwards.
4. Urethritis
Intercourse may trigger urethritis, leading to symptoms such as external genital infection, increased vaginal discharge, unusual odor, and subsequently causing painful urination.
