To prevent constipation, elderly individuals can take the following measures: 1. Establish a regular bowel movement habit, such as attempting to defecate at a fixed time every day, gradually training the body to form a biological clock. 2. Adjust the diet structure, increase dietary fiber intake with vegetables, fruits, and whole grains to promote intestinal motility. 3. Ensure adequate water intake, drink warm water or honey water on an empty stomach in the morning to stimulate the intestines. 4. Increase moderate exercise like walking, light aerobic exercises, and abdominal massages to enhance intestinal activity. 5. Maintain a positive mindset, avoid emotional fluctuations that can have a negative impact on the gastrointestinal tract. When it comes to dietary choices, citrus fruits, white radishes, and nuts are recommended as foods that are helpful in relieving constipation. They are rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, effectively promoting intestinal motility and improving constipation conditions. In conclusion, while constipation may seem like a minor issue, it may hide significant problems. Elderly individuals should pay attention and take corresponding measures actively to safeguard their health.
