Gout is a relatively severe joint disease. For gout patients, regularly consuming foods high in purines can worsen gout and lead to frequent clinical attacks.

High-salt foods

Fatty foods

Nowadays, many people enjoy eating meat, and most meats have high fat content. However, it is not advisable for gout patients to consume excessive fatty foods.

Excessive fat intake in gout patients can reduce the excretion of uric acid from the body. For those with gout and hyperlipidemia, fat intake should be limited to 20% to 25% of total calories.

Alcohol

Whether it’s a gathering or a social event, alcohol is often involved. However, the alcohol in alcoholic beverages can lead to the accumulation of lactic acid in the body, which inhibits the excretion of uric acid and can easily trigger gout.

Hotpot

Many people enjoy eating hotpot, especially as a winter delicacy. However, gout patients should avoid hotpot, as the main ingredients in hotpot, such as animal liver, shrimp, and shellfish, are not suitable for them.

Research indicates that the purine intake from a hotpot meal is about 10 times higher than that from a regular meal, emphasizing the need for gout patients to be cautious.

For gout patients, in addition to being mindful of their diet, they should also control their weight, stay hydrated, and regularly monitor their blood lipid levels.

Although gout cannot be completely cured, with proper care and attention to diet, gout symptoms can be prevented.

Furthermore, patients should regularly visit the hospital for check-ups and follow the doctor’s guidance on taking relevant medications to control their condition.
