Family Self-Rescue Key Points
·Family First Aid Guide·
With the acceleration of life pace and the aging of the population, there are more and more patients with chest pain. For such patients, time is life, timely self-rescue and medical treatment are crucial. Today, let’s learn about the family self-rescue for acute chest pain together.
1
Do not go to the hospital by yourself!!! Call 120 for rescue while waiting in place.
01
Asking someone to call 120 is the right thing to do. Real heart attacks cannot be relieved by general medication. Seek medical treatment at the hospital as soon as possible. How to correctly call the emergency number 120? (Please click the video below.)

If you feel that a heart attack may occur (such as chest tightness or pain lasting more than 15 minutes and not relieved by medication), call 120 for emergency assistance immediately and inform family members’ contact information.
03
For patients with heart disease, if there is continuous chest tightness or pain lasting more than 15 minutes, take nitroglycerin sublingually (if blood pressure is normal, you can self-test while waiting for rescue) or fast-acting heart-saving pills. If the symptoms are still not relieved, immediately call the emergency number 120.
2
Lie down immediately and rest
Lie down immediately and rest, or sit in a place with support, then ask others for assistance. You can do slow deep breathing appropriately, not too fast, generally once every 5 seconds. Excitement and physical activity can increase the heart’s oxygen consumption and worsen the condition, so forcefully coughing with deep breathing is definitely not the right behavior.
3
Perform timely cardiopulmonary resuscitation
For patients without spontaneous breathing and consciousness, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in a timely manner. In public places with AED, defibrillate promptly. (If you do not know CPR, call 120 for telephone guidance promptly. Never do nothing and miss the golden rescue opportunity.)
4
Nitroglycerin and aspirin should not be taken randomly
01
Nitroglycerin
For some heart attacks, low blood pressure may occur, and taking nitroglycerin may worsen the condition. It is best to take it after measuring blood pressure to ensure it is not low. If there is no way to measure blood pressure, do not take it blindly.
02
Aspirin
If the patient does not have a heart attack but pain due to other illnesses, taking aspirin may cause trouble for subsequent treatment. For example, if a patient has high blood pressure, taking a high dose of aspirin may cause cerebral hemorrhage, which is more dangerous.
In short, do not take medication randomly without the guidance of a professional doctor.
