In order to further transform the professional advantages of the “Healthy Community” into tangible benefits for the public and increase residents’ attention and awareness of healthy living, a series of health service activities targeting different groups were recently launched in Fenglin Street, Xuhui District.
The “Healthy China Mother Action” White Magnolia Shanghai Action – Perimenopause and Menstrual Disorders health popularization event was held at the community party service center of Fenglin Street. The event invited Professor Wang Ling from Fudan University Affiliated Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital to give a talk, aiming to effectively enhance the self-care awareness of middle-aged and elderly women. During the event, Wang Ling introduced the concept and symptoms of perimenopause, explained the long-term hazards caused by estrogen deficiency in women, and discussed the optimal period for improving ovarian function. Regarding the management during perimenopause, Wang Ling pointed out the importance of developing good lifestyle and dietary habits, controlling weight, and exercising appropriately, and emphasized that any special issues should be addressed by seeking doctors’ guidance in a timely manner, using professional methods to alleviate menopausal symptoms.
After the lecture, Wang Ling led healthcare professionals from the Shanghai Women Doctors Association to conduct a free clinic, patiently answering various health questions, providing rational treatment suggestions, and health guidance based on individual circumstances. “I was always worried about my health issues, but after the doctor’s detailed explanation today, I feel much more at ease. This event was very timely,” said Aunt Zhang happily.
During the summer vacation, university student volunteers from Fudan University Shanghai Medical College came to the Ankang Community Activity Room to conduct a psychological health lecture for parent-child families in the Ankang residential area on “How Adolescents Can Cope with Stress.”
The volunteers first guided the children to recognize their own stress through a “drinking beverage awareness” exercise and helped them analyze the sources and manifestations of stress. Through video explanations and interactive real-life case studies, the volunteers scientifically analyzed the sources of stress for the children. Subsequently, by teaching a “landing” exercise, the children learned common stress coping measures and emotional management skills, encouraging them to pay attention to mental health, bravely face stress and emotions, and take on challenges in life and learning with a more positive and optimistic mindset.
What sparks can Traditional Chinese Medicine and anti-drug initiatives create? Recently, Fenglin Street conducted an anti-drug health popularization experience at the Shanghai Acupuncture and Meridians Research Institute. The event particularly introduced knowledge about traditional Chinese therapy, which emphasizes fundamentally adjusting the body’s imbalanced state and aligns with the holistic recovery objectives pursued by drug rehabilitation programs. A special moxibustion experience area was set up at the event, where volunteers personally experienced the charm of moxibustion under the guidance of Dr. Yang Ling from the acupuncture institute. As the warm and soothing energy flowed within their bodies, it brought relaxation and comfort, allowing volunteers to appreciate the profound cultural heritage of traditional Chinese medicine and providing strong support for better participation in anti-drug work in the future.
