In order to further translate the professional advantages of “Healthy Neighborhood” resources into affordable services for the masses, and enhance the residents’ attention and understanding of healthy living, recently, the Fenglin Street in Xuhui District has conducted a series of health service activities for different groups of people.

The “Healthy China Mother Action” Shanghai Action – “Menstrual Disorders during Menopause” health popular science activity was held at the Fenglin Street Community Party and Mass Service Center. The event invited Professor Wang Ling from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital affiliated with Fudan University to speak, aiming to effectively increase the awareness of self-healthcare among middle-aged and elderly women. At the event site, Wang Ling introduced the concept and symptoms of menopause, explained the long-term hazards of estrogen deficiency for women, and the best period for improving ovarian function. Regarding the regulation methods during the menopausal period, Wang Ling pointed out the importance of cultivating good lifestyle and dietary habits, controlling weight, engaging in proper exercise, seeking timely medical guidance for special issues, and improving menopausal symptoms through professional methods.

After the lecture, Wang Ling led the medical staff from the Shanghai Women Physicians Association to conduct a free clinic activity, patiently answering various health questions, and providing rational treatment advice and health guidance based on individual circumstances. “I have always worried about health issues, but today, after the detailed explanation by the doctors, I feel much relieved. This event is very timely,” said Aunt Zhang happily.

During the summer vacation, volunteer students from Fudan University School of Medicine came to the Ankang Neighborhood Activity Room to conduct a psychological health lecture on “How Adolescents Can Deal with Stress” for parent-child families in the Ankang community.

The volunteers first guided the children to recognize their own stress through the “Drink Awareness Practice” and analyzed the sources and manifestations of stress. Through video explanations, real case interactions, and other methods, the volunteers scientifically analyzed the sources of stress for the children. Then, through teaching the “Landing” exercise, the children learned common stress coping strategies and emotional management skills, guiding everyone to pay attention to mental health, courageously face stress and emotions, and face life and academic challenges with a more positive and optimistic attitude.

What sparks will fly when traditional Chinese medicine and drug prohibition meet? Recently, Fenglin Street held a drug prohibition health popular science experience at the Shanghai Acupuncture Meridian Research Institute. The event specially introduced knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine therapy, emphasizing the concept of fundamentally adjusting the imbalance of the body, which coincides with the goal of comprehensive physical and mental recovery pursued by drug rehabilitation. The event site specially set up a moxibustion experience area, under the guidance of Dr. Yang Ling from the acupuncture institute, volunteers personally experienced the charm of moxibustion. As the warm air flowed within the body, bringing relaxation and comfort to both body and mind, the volunteers felt the profoundness of traditional Chinese medicine culture and provided strong support for better engagement in drug prohibition work in the future.
