Must read

“I seem to be depressed,” this is a phrase that many people nowadays often say. With the increasing competition in the workplace, people’s stress is also growing. Regardless of age, there is a possibility of developing depression, with more and more young people being affected. Starting from student days, the pressure of studying also increases in order to secure a good job after graduation.

If one doesn’t know how to release inner stress continuously, over time, depression may arise. Not only students but also middle-aged individuals with responsibilities towards both elders and children face greater stress. If unable to adjust properly, they are more prone to depression. Generally, individuals with depressive tendencies may experience some physical changes, which should be carefully observed.

Often not feeling like eating, but suddenly overeating is also considered a symptom of depression. People with depressive tendencies may always have no appetite, not even feel hunger. However, all of a sudden, they may consume large amounts of food, trying to release inner stress through binge eating to relieve their negative emotions.

Furthermore, those who frequently have insomnia and vivid dreams also show a clear tendency towards depression. When lacking proper sleep regularly, one’s mental state deteriorates, leading to nervousness and distractions. People who sleep poorly also become more irritable emotionally, have trouble focusing on tasks, and gradually drain their own body.

After developing depression, the quality of sleep deteriorates rapidly, so it’s advisable to try improving sleep quality beforehand. Before sleep, engaging in some physical activity can help expend excess energy, leaving the body tired and facilitating falling asleep. If that doesn’t work, taking a warm bath, soaking feet in warm water, or completely unwinding could also be tried. If none of these methods work, it’s best to seek medical help promptly.

Individuals constantly contemplating suicide exhibit a more pronounced depressive tendency. In many news stories, individuals suffering from depression are seen resorting to self-harm or suicide. This is mainly because they lack hope in life, are unable to ease their depressive feelings, feel disappointed in life, disappointed in themselves, and believe living further is pointless, leading them to make extreme choices.

Depressive tendencies are not just words; they are deeply felt physically. Individuals leaning towards depression often feel exhausted, accomplishing nothing but feeling physically and mentally drained and uninterested in anything, feeling prematurely aged. Whenever feeling depressed, engaging in physical activity or sweating can act as a stress release. During exercise, the brain enters a state of relaxation, allowing focus on the activity, thereby alleviating some depressive symptoms.

Moreover, ensuring good sleep is crucial. Even if having trouble falling asleep lying in bed, avoid overthinking and gradually empty the mind to ease into sleep. This is not only for physical health but also to relax a tense mind, thereby relieving depressive symptoms.

Lastly, getting ample sunlight is important. Sunlight not only disinfects and kills bacteria, aids in calcium absorption, but also uplifts mood, relaxes the mind, and helps in falling asleep. With better sleep, depressive moods gradually fade away.
