In order to enhance the community residents’ awareness of the harms of smoking, create a healthy, fresh, and clean living environment, and promote the construction of mental health among the people, on July 8, Elderly Association of Dianxi New Village Community in Qixia District, in response to the national Healthy China Strategy, cooperated with Yanzi Ji Health Center to conduct a thematic propaganda lecture titled “Join Hands to Quit Smoking, Stay Healthy with You” targeting the elderly to promote smoking cessation and control.
During the event, the elderly gathered together, each face showing seriousness and concentration, listening attentively to the detailed explanation by Dr. Yang from Yanzi Ji Health Center. Dr. Yang elaborated on the harms of smoking to various body systems, from the respiratory system to the cardiovascular system, and the immune system, enabling the elderly to visually understand the serious impact of tobacco on health. Through vivid cases and intuitive data, the elderly could clearly perceive the close relationship between smoking and various diseases. Additionally, effective smoking cessation methods and techniques were introduced to encourage them to have confidence and courage to take the first steps towards quitting smoking.
During the lecture, the elderly nodded from time to time, some taking out pen and paper to earnestly record key information, others using their phones to capture interesting content, recognizing that this was not just a lecture but also crucial guidance regarding their own health and quality of life. In the interactive session, the elderly actively asked questions, exchanging their doubts and thoughts with the speakers, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
This health knowledge lecture organized by Dianxi New Village Community not only allowed the elderly to acquire new knowledge but also sowed the seed of a healthy lifestyle in their hearts. It is believed that through learning from health lectures, the elderly will pay more attention to their health, take proactive actions, gradually free themselves from the troubles of tobacco, and move towards a healthier and better late life.
