2-month-old baby vomits milk severely, what’s going on

Must read

Baby spit-up is a common phenomenon among small infants, usually accompanied by open mouths, stretched necks, and unusual expressions. Faced with this scene, new mothers often feel worried, as they do not understand the causes of their babies’ spit-up, leaving them at a loss.

Severe spit-up in infants may be related to several factors:

1. Severe spit-up may reveal that the baby has systemic diseases or gastrointestinal problems. The baby’s immune system is not yet mature, making them susceptible to bacterial invasions and various diseases. If spit-up is accompanied by other discomforts, parents should take the baby to a regular hospital for examination.

2. Physiological factors are also one of the reasons. The sphincter between the baby’s esophagus and stomach is still developing and not mature enough, making it easier for them to spit up. This is a common physiological phenomenon.

3. Feeding too much or laying the baby flat immediately after feeding may also lead to severe spit-up. This is physiological spit-up, and parents need not worry excessively; mastering the correct feeding techniques can alleviate it.

The causes of spit-up in infants are varied and usually continue until the baby is about six months old. Importantly, severe spit-up does not necessarily mean the baby is ill; often, it is simply part of normal physiological processes. Of course, if it is accompanied by other unusual symptoms, parents should carefully discern whether medical intervention is needed.
