Baby teeth care methods

Must read

Welcome a new life is always a joy, especially for new parents who need to learn how to care for a delicate baby. As the baby grows, tiny teeth start to emerge, and taking care of the baby’s oral health becomes a new topic for new parents. Here are some practical tips for baby teeth care:

Keeping the baby’s mouth clean is essential, especially when the teeth are about to emerge. After breastfeeding or feeding solid foods, rinse the baby’s mouth with a little warm water to remove food residues and prevent bacteria growth. Avoid letting the baby fall asleep with a bottle in the mouth to prevent oral health issues.

During the teething period, the baby may drool often, have itchy gums, and like to bite objects. You can choose silicone teething toys to let the baby chew safely, which helps in jaw and gum exercise and promotes proper tooth growth. Teething biscuits are also a good choice to satisfy the baby’s need to chew and relieve gum discomfort. Cold and hard foods like chilled bananas, carrot sticks, or specially designed teething toys can effectively alleviate the baby’s discomfort. However, when the baby tries to chew on any item, ensure they are in a sitting position and under adult supervision for safety.

When the baby cries due to teething discomfort, parents can wash their hands and gently massage the baby’s gums. Although the baby may resist initially due to discomfort, they will soon feel comfortable as the pain eases and enjoy the gentle comfort.

Moreover, during the teething period, the baby may have a slight fever. As long as the temperature does not exceed 38°C, the baby is in good spirits and has a normal appetite, no special treatment is usually needed, just increase water intake. However, if the temperature exceeds 38.5°C, accompanied by restlessness, refusal to eat, prompt medical attention is necessary to rule out other potential health issues.

In conclusion, the new baby teeth need careful care, as they are not only a sign of growth but also a potential breeding ground for bacteria. Therefore, while parents enjoy the fun of parenting, do not forget to pay attention to the baby’s oral hygiene, take appropriate measures to help them smoothly pass through this special period, and lay a solid foundation for having healthy and beautiful teeth in the future.
