How to Care for Red Rash on Baby’s Body

Must read

The problem of red scabies on baby skin often causes great anxiety for parents, even though daily medication and ointment application seem to have little effect, undoubtedly adding to the family’s worries. In fact, in treating baby scabies, correct nursing measures are equally crucial and can effectively promote treatment outcomes. Scabies, as an inflammatory disease caused by skin fungus infection, is characterized by initial presentation of vesicles or papules that gradually spread outward in a ring shape, with the central area relatively lighter and having a tendency to self-heal, hence also known as “money scabies.” This disease prefers warm and humid environments, more common in southern regions and in the spring and summer seasons, and based on the location of infection, it can be classified as head scabies, foot scabies, hand scabies, body scabies, and nail scabies.

A significant sign distinguishing between eczema and scabies is: the former presents as large and indistinctly bordered areas of skin involvement, while scabies is usually small in area, ring-shaped, with clear boundaries.

For the care of babies suffering from eczema, it is recommended to follow the following guidance: – Avoid contact with any irritants, use mild non-irritating cleansing products, avoid hot water washing, and do not apply cosmetics or oils to the affected areas. – Maintain a suitable indoor temperature, avoid overheating to worsen itching, choose loose-fitting cotton clothing to reduce skin friction. – Breastfeeding helps prevent eczema caused by milk protein allergies. – During the acute phase of eczema, avoid vaccinations such as discontinued smallpox vaccines, and reduce contact with herpes patients to prevent cross-infection.

In terms of dietary adjustments, here are some recommended therapeutic diets to help alleviate eczema: – Chrysanthemum tea: Brew a small amount of chrysanthemum in hot water to drink, with the effects of heat-clearing, detoxifying, and dispersing wind. – Honeysuckle tea: Boil an appropriate amount of honeysuckle, add sugar for flavor, good for detoxification and reducing swelling. – Lotus leaf porridge: Cover the boiling porridge with lotus leaves for a while, then remove the leaves, the porridge turns green, add a small amount of sugar for flavor, can heat-clear and damp-expel. – Coix seed porridge: Cook coix seeds into porridge until cooked, add a small amount of starch, sugar, and osmanthus, good for spleen-strengthening, heat-clearing, and damp-expelling. – Artemisia annua and tangerine peel tea: Boil Artemisia annua and tangerine peel together, add an appropriate amount of sugar, helpful for promoting qi, invigorating spleen, and drying dampness.

In addition, specific traditional Chinese medicine formulations can also be one of the treatment options for baby eczema, but the specific applications should be carried out under the guidance of a professional physician.
