For new parents, preparing baby formula correctly is a required course. This process, although seemingly ordinary, contains many details and skills. How to ensure proper operation?
First, ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of all utensils. Wash hands with soap first, then use a sterilizing pot filled 80% with water and heat it. Glass bottles and tweezers that can withstand high temperatures can be placed directly in boiling water and boiled for 10 minutes; nipples, lids, and other sensitive parts should be wrapped in gauze and boiled for about 5 minutes. After sterilization, place the bottle in a clean area to air dry naturally.
Next, prepare the water for mixing the formula. Pour water around 40°C into the bottle. If using just boiled water, it is recommended to let it cool for 30 minutes. It is important to add water first and then the formula, ensuring accurate proportions and avoiding the formula being too concentrated.
The amount of formula should be taken using the spoon provided with the formula packaging, ensuring the appropriate amount each time. The spoons provided with each type of formula may vary and should not be mixed. When taking the amount, use the back of a clean knife to level off any excess formula on the spoon, or use the leveling tool provided with the formula.
Then, slowly pour the accurately measured formula into the bottle filled with warm water, install the nipple and bottle cap, and gently shake it from side to side to mix it gently and avoid creating bubbles.
Finally, it is essential to test the temperature of the liquid before feeding. A simple way to test the temperature is to drop a few drops of the liquid on the inside of the wrist to feel it; never taste directly with the mouth to avoid contaminating the baby’s food with oral bacteria.
By following these steps, you can ensure that you prepare safe and nutritious formula for your baby, helping new parents better handle this daily challenge.
