The baby’s stomach is gurgling and farting again, what’s wrong?

Must read

During the postpartum period, if the baby’s stomach makes gurgling sounds and they frequently pass gas, it is usually a normal phenomenon. This is related to their still-developing digestive system. After eating, the stimulation of food in the intestines can trigger this response, and as time passes and the baby grows, these symptoms often naturally lessen.

However, if the baby shows other signs of discomfort in addition to the stomach noises and gas, it may involve more complex health issues. For instance, insufficient warmth in the abdomen leading to chill can cause not only stomach noises but also trigger diarrhea. Improvement methods include gently applying heat or massaging the abdomen and enhancing warmth measures.

Inappropriate feeding methods, such as feeding too much at once, can increase the baby’s digestive burden, leading to food accumulation, vomiting, and bloating. The correct approach is to feed in smaller amounts and avoid overfeeding; generally, adjusting in this way will result in an improvement.

Sometimes, gastrointestinal dysfunction triggered by improper dietary habits can slow the baby’s digestion, causing food to accumulate and ferment, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Doctors may recommend using probiotics, such as bifidobacterium triple viable bacterial powder, to help adjust the intestinal flora balance and promote recovery.

Enteritis, an illness caused by bacterial infection, can also manifest similar symptoms, accompanied by alternating constipation and diarrhea. In this case, following medical advice to use antibiotics (such as cefixime granules) is a necessary treatment measure.

It is worth noting that less common conditions such as intussusception and pyloric stenosis can also lead to these symptoms. Therefore, in daily care, ensuring the baby stays warm and adjusting clothing in a timely manner to prevent colds is a very important preventive measure.
