Focusing on the healthy growth of children is the responsibility of every parent, especially when it comes to the development of the child. In today’s society, children face various growth challenges, which may affect their intellectual development and future. Therefore, parents need to pay close attention to signs of brain development in children. Here are some signs of incomplete brain development.
For example, a baby who is 5 months and 22 days old, underwent a hospital examination at 5 months and 15 days, where it was found that he was unable to lift his head when lying on his stomach, had increased muscle tone, kept his fists clenched, and kept his thumbs tucked in. Over the following week, the family intervened through exercises, massages, and a 5-day course of gangliosides and phosphatidylcholine sodium infusions. The day after the exercise training, the baby was able to lift his head while lying prone, although there were fluctuations in performance afterwards, stability of the head when being held upright is still to be strengthened, muscle tone has slightly eased, leg extension separation angle is about 100-110 degrees, but there is still a sense of resistance. The most recent MRI results showed that the baby has incomplete brain development.
In daily life, this baby is showing some developmental signs: smiling at a month, briefly grasping toys; eyes can follow objects and people, enjoys stretching the body; liked “talking” with people at two months, limbs are active; by three months, mostly not waking up at night anymore, in the bath sometimes seen tightly grasping with both hands, not easily letting go. At this stage, he could turn over to lie on his side, although could not transition directly from lying on his back to lying on his stomach, mostly responds with smiles to external stimuli, occasionally laughs. While lying on his back, though he tries to grab toys in front of him, the movements are not yet precise, sometimes requiring the toy to touch his hand for him to hold it.
Understanding and paying attention to these basic pieces of information is crucial for parents. Only by giving sufficient attention to every step of a child’s growth can abnormalities be identified in time, promptly addressed, potential issues treated, and their adverse effects on the child’s growth minimized to the greatest extent.
