What to do if the baby has diarrhea and mild fever

Must read

When a baby experiences diarrhea and low fever, it may be due to indigestion or acute gastroenteritis. If these symptoms are noticed, it is best to take the child to the hospital as soon as possible for relevant tests to determine the cause and follow the doctor’s advice for treatment.

If diarrhea and low fever are caused by getting cold, it is important to keep the baby’s abdomen warm, add clothing in time, and use warm water to wipe the body or apply a fever patch to help relieve symptoms. In terms of diet, choose easily digestible and bland foods, avoid spicy and irritating foods to prevent worsening of the condition.

In terms of treatment, if it is caused by bacterial infection, the doctor may prescribe antibiotics such as amoxicillin granules or cefuroxime granules to control inflammation. If there is an imbalance in the intestinal flora, probiotics such as Bifidobacterium triple viable powder or Lactobacillus double viable granules can be taken according to the doctor’s guidance to adjust the intestinal flora. In cases of frequent diarrhea, montmorillonite powder or racemic carmofur granules can help protect the intestinal mucosa, reduce excretion, and prevent dehydration. Severe diarrhea may lead to electrolyte imbalance, in which case oral rehydration salts should be taken as per the doctor’s instructions. For problems caused by allergies, avoid contact with allergens such as milk, eggs, and if necessary, antihistamines like loratadine syrup may be used.

In addition to medication, tuina massage can also be tried as an adjunct therapy. Parents should carefully observe the baby’s condition, ensure the child gets enough rest and nutrition to accelerate the recovery process.
