Implantable prosthesis allows men to go from “not working” to “working”

Must read

Nowadays, due to the accelerated pace of life, changes in diet and lifestyle such as staying up late, and increased work pressure, the incidence of ED (erectile dysfunction) is rising and showing a trend towards younger age groups. Once men are troubled by ED, it can severely affect their physical and mental health as well as family harmony.

However, men should not panic when diagnosed with ED, as there are currently various methods available for its treatment.

For the treatment of ED, in addition to commonly used medication and extracorporeal shockwave therapy, there is an “ultimate weapon”—penile prosthesis implantation, also known as penile supporting body implantation.

If one wants to be free from the troubles of ED with a single treatment or has been struggling with ED for a long time, penile prosthesis implantation can be relied upon for recovery and a return to normal life.

What is penile prosthesis implantation?

â–ºPenile prosthesis implantation is a surgical procedure to implant a penile prosthesis into the penis.

01. Penile prosthesis

A penile prosthesis is an artificial organ that can be implanted in the human body, similar to a cardiac pacemaker or artificial joint.

This prosthesis consists of three parts: two cylinders, a reservoir, and a pump. Through manual control, it can achieve an effect similar to the engorgement and expansion of the corpora cavernosa, thereby enabling artificial control of erections.

02. Surgical process of prosthesis implantation

A small incision is made in the scrotum, through which the three components are assembled onto the body. The pump is placed in the scrotum, the two prostheses are placed in the corpora cavernosa of the penis, and the reservoir is placed behind the pubic bone.

03. Working principle of the penile prosthesis

In simple terms, it simulates the entire process of the engorgement of the corpora cavernosa.

By controlling the liquid pump valve, when relaxed, it can present a naturally flaccid state. Before intercourse, the pump is squeezed by hand to push the liquid from the reservoir into the prosthesis, causing an immediate erection. After intercourse, by pressing the switch on the pump, the liquid in the prosthesis returns to the reservoir, and the penis returns to a natural flaccid state.
