In the field of men’s health, genital warts are a common sexually transmitted disease with a high incidence rate. In order to help male friends better understand and cope with this disease, we have specially invited Dr. Cao Jiali, a specialist in dermatology from Beijing Chaoyang Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, to comprehensively analyze the symptoms and related knowledge of male genital warts for us.
Dr. Cao Jiali, as an authoritative expert in the field of dermatology, has not only accumulated over twenty years of rich clinical experience but also actively participated in academic research and exchanges. He is a member of the Youth Committee of the Dermatology Branch of the Beijing Medical Association, a member of the Skin Disease Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Rehabilitation Medicine Association, and a member of the Dermatologic Surgery and Aesthetic Branch of the Chinese Association for the Prevention of Leprosy. Through his specialized diagnostic and treatment methods, he has successfully helped thousands of patients recover, receiving high praise from patients.
Regarding male genital warts, Dr. Cao Jiali pointed out that the disease is mainly caused by infection with human papillomavirus (HPV) and is common in the genital and perianal areas. In the early stages, patients may have no obvious symptoms, but as the condition progresses, a series of typical symptoms may appear.
Firstly, the typical skin lesions of genital warts are single or multiple scattered light red papules, soft in texture, with sharp tips that gradually increase in size and number. These skin lesions may have erosion, exudation, staining, and ulceration, and may be complicated by bleeding and infection.
Secondly, male genital warts are common in the foreskin, frenulum, coronal sulcus, glans, urethral opening, penile shaft, perianal area, rectum, and scrotum. The appearance of skin lesions may vary slightly in different areas but all have a certain degree of infectivity.
Dr. Cao Jiali emphasizes that the symptoms of genital warts may vary due to individual differences, with some patients experiencing foreign body sensation, burning, itching, or discomfort during sexual intercourse. Therefore, male friends should seek prompt medical attention for professional examination and treatment when abnormal skin lesions appear in the genital or perianal area.
In terms of treatment, Dr. Cao Jiali stated that there are various treatment methods for genital warts, including drug therapy, physical therapy, and surgical treatment. The specific treatment plan should be comprehensively considered based on factors such as the patient’s condition, size, location, and number of warts. He reminds patients to follow medical advice, actively cooperate with treatment, maintain good lifestyle habits and sexual hygiene to reduce the risk of recurrence.
Finally, Dr. Cao Jiali calls on male friends to pay attention to their own health, enhance prevention awareness, avoid risky sexual behavior, and work together to uphold sexual health and public health safety.
