Men of this age, most have entered menopause, how can they improve?

Must read

In our lives, men can also experience flushing and palpitations. For male friends, this can be a common concern, especially when it leads to decreased libido and a decrease in the frequency of erections, not necessarily due to male sexual dysfunction but possibly signaling the onset of male menopause.

There is a middle-aged man around me who is in his 50s and usually enjoys running and fitness activities. He often participates in mass marathons organized by national, provincial, and municipal authorities. Recently, he has been feeling unusually fatigued and depressed, lacking energy to do anything, and getting easily irritable over minor issues.

Initially, one might attribute these negative symptoms to high levels of physical stress, but even after resting, there’s no improvement. Even medical examinations fail to pinpoint the real cause. Blood tests revealed low cholesterol levels, around 300NG/DL, indicating early signs of male menopause.

So, what are the symptoms of male menopause?

Commonly, male menopause symptoms often manifest as emotional instability, flushing of the face, palpitations, and other issues. Diagnosis of male menopause with self-aware symptoms comprises less than 1% of patients who seek medical advice. Many experience emotional instability, flushing of the face, decreased libido, assuming these are due to sexual dysfunction or fatigue from work, but treatments in these cases often have limited effects.

Unlike menopause in women, the onset of male menopause varies with individual body systems, leading to differences in age. Clinical observations suggest that some might experience menopause before the age of 40 or even after 60. In medical terms, men above 40 are considered subjects, with around 1/3 showing a decrease in male hormone levels upon blood testing, signaling the onset of menopause. Prolonged reduction in male hormones can lead to fatigue, muscle atrophy, and a vicious cycle contributing to overall fatigue, impaired cardiopulmonary function, and various chronic diseases under different conditions.

How can we alleviate issues related to male menopause or reduced sexual function?

Health experts recommend that men should seek medical advice if they experience emotional disturbances, flushing, decreased sexual function, or other symptoms. Waiting until the body can no longer cope can lead to heart and lung problems. Often, supplementing male hormones can lead to noticeable improvements. For sexual function issues, medications like sildenafil can be used, achieving desired results and addressing the root causes.
