Professor Peng Wenhao: Men’s Prostate Health and Care: Guarding the Gland of Life, Infinite Vitality

Must read

Professor Peng Wenhao at the Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine said: In the field of male reproductive health, the prostate, a seemingly insignificant but crucial gland, plays a pivotal role. It is not only an important part of the male reproductive system but also participates in urine excretion and semen composition, profoundly affecting the quality of life for men. Therefore, paying attention to and maintaining prostate health is essential for every man. This article aims to explore the importance of male prostate health, common issues, and effective health maintenance methods, helping male friends protect this “life gland” and enjoy a vibrant life.

1. The Importance of Prostate Health

The prostate is located below the bladder, surrounding the urethra, and its health directly affects male urination and sexual function. A healthy prostate ensures smooth urine flow, avoiding symptoms like frequent urination, urgency, and pain; at the same time, it also plays a vital role in semen liquefaction, essential for male fertility. Therefore, the prostate is known as the male “life gland,” and its health status should not be overlooked.

2. Common Prostate Issues

Prostatitis: including acute bacterial prostatitis, chronic bacterial prostatitis, and chronic non-bacterial prostatitis, characterized by symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, pain, and discomfort in the perineal region.

Prostate Enlargement: With age, the prostate may enlarge, compressing the urethra and causing problems like difficulty urinating and increased nocturnal urination.

Prostate Cancer: Although the incidence rate is relatively low, it is still one of the common malignant tumors in men, early detection and treatment are crucial for improving survival rates.

3. Prostate Health Maintenance Methods

Balanced Diet: Include foods rich in antioxidants like tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, and nuts, containing lycopene and zinc beneficial for prostate health. Also, maintain a light diet, avoid spicy foods, and reduce alcohol and tobacco intake.

Regular Exercise: Adequate physical exercise can improve blood circulation, aid in prostate blood supply and waste elimination. It is recommended to engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise per week, such as brisk walking, swimming, cycling, etc.

Avoid Prolonged Sitting: Prolonged sitting can compress the prostate, affecting blood circulation. Therefore, try to avoid prolonged sitting without movement, take short breaks to move around periodically, or do simple stretching exercises.

Regular Check-ups: For men over 40, it is advisable to undergo annual prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing and digital rectal examination to detect early signs of prostate cancer.

Psychological Adjustment: Maintaining a positive mindset, avoiding excessive stress and anxiety is equally essential for prostate health. Long-term mental stress may impact the endocrine system, indirectly affecting prostate function.

Healthy Sexual Life: Regular sexual activity aids in prostate fluid excretion, reducing the risk of prostate congestion. However, excessively frequent sexual activity may lead to prostate fatigue, hence moderate frequency is suitable.

In conclusion, male prostate health is an essential part of male overall health. Through scientific diet, regular exercise, avoiding prolonged sitting, regular check-ups, and psychological adjustment efforts, we can effectively protect this “life gland,” enabling male friends to lead a vibrant and confident life.
