Experts remind that mooncakes themselves have a high sugar content, and diabetics should control their intake. The cholesterol content in egg yolks is high and should also not be consumed in large quantities. Therefore, diabetics need to exercise strict self-control when facing yolk mooncakes; if they really want to taste them, they should only consume a small amount.

From a health perspective, the cholesterol intake from eggs for each person daily roughly matches the content of one egg yolk, but for those with already elevated blood lipids, intake should be reduced. It can be adjusted to half an egg yolk per day or two egg yolks per week, to avoid further aggravating cholesterol levels, which may adversely affect the control of blood glucose and blood lipids.

Moreover, ensuring sufficient protein intake is also crucial for diabetics, with a recommended amount of 1.18 grams per kilogram of body weight daily. Egg whites, being a high-quality protein source, should be counted in the daily protein needs.

Considering the dietary restrictions for diabetics, overly sweet or salty foods should be avoided. Yolk mooncakes, due to their high sweetness, are generally not recommended for diabetics. However, if they find it difficult to resist the deliciousness, having a small taste can be acceptable.
