Must read

Nowadays, social pressure is growing increasingly intense. Many people not only have to face heavy workloads but also have to manage various family relationships and personal feelings, making psychological issues unavoidable. Without appropriate sorting and intervention, it is likely that one will develop psychological disorders over time.

Depression is a very serious psychological disorder, and due to depression, more and more people are taking their own lives in our society. Whether they are celebrities or ordinary individuals, they have ended their lives because of depression. Therefore, it is crucial to detect and treat depression early so that one can quickly overcome the shadow of the disease and lead a happy life.

So how can one recognize the early signs of depression?

1. Suicidal thoughts and behaviors

The ultimate manifestation of depression is suicide, which is the most dangerous behavior. Patients cannot escape from this physical and mental suffering, so they often have suicidal thoughts and may eventually act on them to escape through suicide.

2. Intense feelings of inferiority

Individuals with mild depression often feel inferior, believing they lack value, presence, or usefulness. They feel that they are superfluous and insignificant in the world, often accompanied by intense guilt.

3. Lack of pleasure

One of the most typical manifestations of depression is the feeling that life is boring, showing no interest in anything. Even if you participate in various recreational activities, you won’t feel enjoyment. Mild patients may avoid any social activities, while severe patients will live in isolation, distancing themselves from relatives and friends, preventing contact with anyone.

4. Poor sleep quality

Most patients with depression often suffer from sleep disorders. Even if they manage to fall asleep, they may wake up within a few hours and feel depressed upon waking. Others with depression may have difficulty falling asleep and often experience nightmares, which is also referred to as “multiple sleep depression.”

5. Changes in appetite

Individuals with depression tend to have little interest in food, even in dishes they once enjoyed, and they may not feel like eating, leading to weight loss. However, some depressed patients may experience an increased appetite, eating significantly more.

6. Obvious depressive mood

The main characteristic of depression is usually a low mood, consistently filled with negative emotions, feeling bad, depressed, anxious, pessimistic, and hopeless all day long, often having suicidal tendencies, frequently expressing a willingness to commit suicide, and showing signs of self-harm.

7. Various physical discomforts

Patients often experience various unexplained discomforts, which are not serious upon examination, such as fatigue, constipation, chest tightness, and palpitations, and treatments for these symptoms have little effect.

8. Persistent fatigue

Depressed individuals may experience persistent fatigue without reason, feeling not only physically drained but also mentally exhausted, often feeling powerless, unproductive, and even reluctant to engage in daily meals or personal hygiene.

The above are all manifestations of depression. If you find that you have any of the above symptoms, it is best to seek psychological assistance as soon as possible. Through psychological intervention, you may quickly escape the psychological dilemma and become a sunny person filled with positive energy.
