Angry burn Fulin
Some people have a quick temper and love to lose their temper. Little do they know, those who often harbor anger will eventually deplete their blessings.
Just as the “Vegetable Roots Discourses” says: “Those with a hot temperament and coarse nature achieve nothing, while those with a calm and harmonious disposition attract countless blessings.”
A quick-tempered and fiery individual is often driven by emotions overruling reason, and bad temper outweighing cultivation.
If a person cannot even manage their own emotions, then they are probably unable to effectively manage their own lives.
Konosuke Matsushita once said: “Pay attention to those around you, those who easily get angry are not wise individuals, they lead a chaotic life.”
In ancient India, a practitioner who had accumulated a certain amount of merits was meditating quietly under the shade of a tree by the roadside.
A passerby curiously asked: “What are you doing here?”
The meditating practitioner replied: “I am cultivating to calm my heart and mind, to endure all kinds of worldly humiliations.”
The passerby sneered, “From the looks of you, you don’t seem like a practitioner at all!”
Upon hearing this, the meditating practitioner immediately jumped up and started cursing the passerby.
This outburst of anger also instantly depleted the merits and blessings he had accumulated so painstakingly.
As Wang Xiaobo said: “All human suffering is essentially anger at one’s own incompetence.”
Many times, it’s not that others provoke us, but rather they hit a nerve that breaches our inner defense, triggering an emotional “meltdown” mode.
Although getting angry may seem like attacking others, ultimately it affects one’s own physical and mental health, causing harm to oneself.
When one is angry, toxins are produced in the body.
Traditional medicine believes that frequent anger can lead to stagnation of liver Qi.
When angry, breathing becomes rapid, leading to continuous expansion of the lungs, which can potentially cause lung pain.
It just goes to show: the more one loses their temper, the more they harm their body and deplete their blessings.
