We have gathered a group of learners who are passionate about hypnosis, they enter the world of hypnosis with curiosity and eagerness, experiencing profound journeys of the mind.
Today marks the third day of our hypnosis course, with a rich and diverse learning content ranging from induction to awakening, where every step is crucial. Under the guidance of Teacher Liu, students not only learn the key techniques of hypnosis but also experience the profound meaning of hypnosis through practice. By utilizing techniques such as instant brain loading hypnosis and garden visualization, they experience the interaction between consciousness and subconscious, feeling the self-awakening that hypnosis brings.
On this day of learning, students deeply realize that hypnosis is not just a technique but an art that requires a profound trust-based communication between the hypnotist and the individual being hypnotized. They learn how to guide individuals through hypnosis to explore their inner selves, discover their hidden strengths and tranquility.
As the course progresses, students transition from initial curiosity and nervousness to confidence and proficiency. Through continuous practice, trial and error, and experiential learning, they eventually shine on the stage of hypnosis with their own brilliance.
Now, let’s delve into their world, listen to their emotional journeys during the hypnosis learning process, feel their inner transformations, and experience the infinite possibilities brought by hypnosis.
【Instant Hypnosis: Experience and Insights into Breaking Habitual Thinking】
Written by: He Zilin
Today’s course content was rich, covering the third step of the seven-step hypnosis process from induction to awakening. During the induction phase, I participated in the instant brain loading hypnosis. When Teacher Liu authoritatively instructed me to lie down on the ground, my consciousness was still focused on the previous instruction—pressing Teacher Liu’s hand with both hands in a scenario. As for why I lay down and how I lay down, the receptivity was weak, feeling somewhat like a riddle that I hadn’t solved. Then, through the “garden visualization” method, I entered a new scenario, visualizing the garden as instructed by Teacher Liu, and imagining picking a yellow flower while making three wishes. The only flaw was that I lay down next to the air conditioning unit, and the sound of the machine almost completely covered Teacher Liu’s voice, so I remained quiet, waiting to be awakened. Nonetheless, despite the flaw, I still had a good experience with this trial.
This trial helped me understand a truth, that once a person’s habitual thinking is formed, it is challenging to break free from it. Instant hypnosis exploits unexpected suddenness, controlling behavior by suggesting under the premise of the brain temporarily unable to adjust, utilizing this inertia of the mind.
Through today’s course, I learned that the steps of hypnosis techniques are progressive. Effective induction plays a vital role in deepening hypnosis. By guiding the individual into the subconscious state through hypnosis, identifying their true issues, and establishing new behavioral patterns, followed by positive suggestive implantation to help individuals break through themselves and regain confidence. Finally, using concise and progressively assertive tones to bring the individual back to reality.
Hypnosis seems like a “self-awakening” under the guidance of a hypnotherapist; it is a valuable skill worth studying and mastering.
【Exploring the Realm of Hypnosis: Relaxation, Visualization, and Trust】
Written by: Cheng Zhu
Today, we learned about hypnosis induction and deepening. One aspect that resonated with me was Teacher Liu’s gradual relaxation guidance, which allowed me to enter the hypnotic state more easily. When I attempted to guide a practice session within the group, starting from the head and gradually reaching the feet, I noticed the subject’s breathing became steadier, and their body relaxed. The guided deep breathing made me realize the impact of breathing rhythm on the hypnotic state. Guiding the subject through deep breaths resulted in a slower heart rate and muscle relaxation, laying a solid foundation for further hypnosis.
During the deepening process, I found that repeating deepening instructions effectively enhanced the hypnotic state. By continuously repeating “you feel more relaxed,” the subject became more sensitive to the hypnotherapist’s guidance. Teacher Liu led us through a garden-themed staircase method, which highlighted the importance of visualization in hypnosis. By guiding us to imagine descending stairs, with each step deeper into hypnosis, under Teacher Liu’s guidance, the imagery became more vivid.
Through today’s lessons, I gained a deeper understanding of hypnosis induction and deepening. Towards the end of the session, we also experienced the backward counting method. This made me realize that hypnosis requires not only technical skills but also a foundation of trust between the hypnotherapist and the individual being hypnotized.
【Bridge of Trust: Hypnotic Experience and Dialogue with the Inner World】
Written by: Deng Min
Today, I experienced hypnosis guided by Teacher Liu, and the entire process flowed seamlessly like a fantastic mysterious journey. Throughout the process, I placed complete trust in the hypnotherapist. Guided by the hypnotherapist, I found my own flower and shared my wishes with it. Upon awakening, I felt warmth and strength.
Trust in the hypnotherapist during hypnosis directly affects the success of the session. It is only on the foundation of trust that one can confidently entrust their mind and body to the hypnotherapist, embarking on a mysterious journey and engaging in dialogue with the subconscious.
As hypnotherapists, we must have sufficient energy fields to earn the trust of the individual being hypnotized, making them believe in our ability to guide them to explore and venture out, and safely lead them back to real life.
In each counseling field, trust is the foundation of counseling. Based on this foundation, as counselors, we can enter the logical world of the individual seeking counseling, establish new logic, and create connections. The counselor and the individual seeking counseling are like two circles; only with mutual trust can the circles overlap, establish a connection, and utilize the overlapping area for positive effects.
In multiple hypnosis experiences, I discovered that I couldn’t enter the hypnotic state under three conditions:
1. Anxiety – When approaching the desired image or nearing the subconscious, curiosity fills me, and certain parts of my body begin to tense up, making it challenging to follow instructions, causing me to exit this state.
2. Noisy environment – External distractions during hypnosis can disrupt following the hypnotherapist’s instructions.
3. Subjectively not willing to be hypnotized – Due to repetitive practices, feelings of fatigue inevitably arise, making it difficult to enter a hypnotic state. This state corresponds to low energy, inability to enter or intermittent presence in the state. It’s like a phone running out of battery, still turned on but likely to black out at any moment.
If a hypnosis session with the individual being hypnotized is unsuccessful, as a counselor, one can analyze the reasons based on the above points.
【Shortcut to Becoming a Hypnotherapist? Only through Experience and Mastery】
Written by: Zhao Junyan
After a week of rest and feedback on assignments, I gradually realized that to be a qualified hypnotherapist, one needs a comprehensive set of skills. It’s not just about understanding principles and procedures but also training one’s voice. Only by mastering the rhythm and tone of one’s voice and effectively executing hypnosis commands through voice modulation can one achieve the best results. It requires either innate talent or rigorous training! There are no shortcuts, only imitation leading to surpassing!
The seven-step hypnosis process is interconnected, with each step being essential. After the pre-hypnosis communication and hypnosis testing from the previous two classes, we are ready to embark on formal therapeutic work. Today’s main learning content covered the last five steps of hypnotherapy: induction, deepening, state establishment, energy implantation, and awakening.
Of these, induction is crucial, building on the foundation of the past two classes. How we confirm the subject entering the hypnotic state requires excellent guidance combined with sensitivity to bodily sensations to finely observe or synchronize the subject’s breath, observe postural cues like facial expressions and shoulder tension, and provide timely affirmations to make subsequent work smoother and more effective!
The induction process of “light exposure + gradual relaxation” led us to nap early in the morning again, which was strange because I was fully awake and not tired throughout. However, after the hypnosis session, I suddenly started yawning uncontrollably, unable to suppress it. I later realized that my body had completely relaxed, and subconscious had been awakened, understanding that they knew “I needed rest,” while my consciousness was telling me, I couldn’t rest, insisting on paying attention in class to make the most of my time and money spent — the delicate relationship between consciousness and subconscious! Quite fascinating!
The “instant loading method” was like a jaw-dropping experience, akin to those scenes from television shows where unwitting young girls are tricked. It had me questioning if it was real! But seeing Zilin lying beside me in a very centered state, truly impressed me! Later during the paired exercises, under unsuspecting circumstances, experiencing a blank mind instantaneously was indeed possible with precise timing, which could effectively cause instant hypnosis. This performance element of hypnosis is genuinely exceptional, akin to last week’s “human bridge experiment.”
The deepening method of the “blackboard erasing technique” put me into a sleep-like state. During the subsequent paired exercises, I realized that I dozed off right after erasing the “❌,” causing me to be clueless about how I wrote the numbers and how many numbers I wrote. Surprisingly, though, while in a daze, when I saw myself in a drawing, I would suddenly awaken again, entering the phase of being awakened, perhaps what the teacher refers to as disengaging conscious acceptance state!
The state establishment step made us realize that to be a competent hypnotherapist, one must have a good writing foundation, learning to vividly and meticulously describe beautiful imagery seen, vividly presenting to the subject. In addition to writing with all five senses to describing scenes, one must learn to vividly illustrate “high-energy moments,” “peak experiences,” and more importantly, make actionable plans sound feasible, and identify at least three advantages of the individual… emphasizing the ability to articulate persuasively and flaunt one’s writing skills!
Aside from personal experiences, the final segment on treatment scripts triggered significant reactions. Given an impromptu assignment, we swiftly organized our three-person team after nearly three days of coordination, demonstrating a quick and detailed script that impressed everyone. It made me appreciate the power of trust and teamwork, encountering such harmonious individuals on the learning journey is genuinely fulfilling!
As today’s class comes to an end, the first phase of hypnosis techniques has been learned. In these three days of learning, I have not only experienced the magic of hypnosis but also felt the frustration of learning everything anew; from the initial perception of hypnosis as just beautiful music blended with gentle words to discover the need for professional theoretical knowledge, acute observation skills, trained body sensitivity, the ability to speak and write effectively, and the blend of reason and sensibility among other skills required to truly grasp the elegance and composure on the surface! Upon learning, my respect deepens, and the novice has a long path ahead!
【Ripples in the Lake of the Mind: Self-Exploration in Hypnosis Practice】
Written by: Fu Rong
Due to yesterday’s events, waking up early today, I expected a confusing and challenging day. However, remarkably, I felt remarkably calm inside, with the ten tightly-packed hours of today not affecting my energy. This owed to Teacher Liu’s hands-on instruction on hypnosis induction and deepening techniques; it was both learning and experiential. Throughout the day, transitioning between consciousness and subconsciousness, had a sensation of a blurred, almost paradoxical reality.
Hypnosis induction felt like a gentle breeze brushing the lake’s surface, stirring up layers of ripples. Each breath, each soothing of the mind, was an exploration of the subconscious. Gradual relaxation tempted me to delve deeper involuntarily. Hypnosis deepening resembled the stars in a night sky, guiding through the fog of awareness towards an inner journey.
Every exercise was a deepening of self-awareness, constantly self-hypnotizing: ‘insufficient talent, compensated by diligence, so practice and review alternately.’
Anticipating our next class on self-hypnosis, eager to listen to my inner self, embracing the found power and tranquility.
【Exploring the Subconscious: Transformation from Curiosity to Confidence】
Written by: Deng Lianqiong
Today, the third hypnosis class instigated curiosity, slowly transitioning to immersion. I recall the initial nervousness during the first class, questioning if I could truly achieve it. Today, further exploring, there was a sense of unlocking the “Dū Mài” meridian, finally bringing a hint of confidence.
During the “light exposure + gradual relaxation,” I noticed a watery secretion at the corners of my eyes, with Teacher Liu suggesting that it could be due to repressed emotions or childhood trauma. Curious about the unknown entity, there seems to be a bottleneck I seek to overcome, but it’s a gradual exploration!
The most striking aspect of today’s class was the part about the Garden of the Soul. During the instant hypnosis with the hands-down-press experience, as everyone lay quietly on the floor post-hypnosis, I followed Teacher Liu’s instruction to perceive a garden, vaguely spotting a pink peony. On mention of the flower blooming, a powerful emotional surge was felt, sparking a profound question in my mind: Question: ‘Is your flower blooming?’ Answer: ‘I don’t know if it’s blooming, but I know I am within the flower garden.’
The “Garden Staircase Method” exploration further prompted a deep dive into the subconscious. This session’s garden, in contrast to the previous one, availed a seemingly abyss with steep inclines, encompassing grass, flowers, possibly a brook—could this be a part of the subconscious realm I wish to explore further? Overwhelmed by the compelling curiosity, this appears to be the challenge I seek to overcome.
The most challenging aspect of today’s class for me was the treatment script planting, essentially writing, akin to the school days’ essay composition, requiring significant practice and honing. This reflection underlines that post-learning psychology, I’ve realized there’s simply too much to study. Psychological counseling isn’t just simple conversation but a unique mental training process, necessitating a wealth of professional knowledge, enhanced skills, stable support to address diverse seekers for help, alleviating psychological distress to help individuals help themselves.
【Art of a Hypnotherapist’s Verbal Communication: Painting Mental Imagery】
Written by: Xiang Siyao
The third day of the course left me feeling somewhat dazed and fatigued due to continuous practice sessions. Throughout the day, we fluctuated between consciousness and subconsciousness, a journey of learning and experiencing. The seamless operational flow of Teacher Liu’s hypnosis demonstrations felt understood and comprehended as we watched, but once we engaged in our practice, challenges arose. Summing up, the meticulous choice of words in induction scripts is crucial, requiring fluency throughout the process, self-affirmation to believe in one’s capabilities, all of which necessitate extensive practice.
What struck me the most today was the skill of crafting treatment scripts, revealing my writing inadequacy as a foreign language specialist. Initiating “talk on a picture” left me racking my brain, reminiscent of elementary school essay days, where creative juices seemed to deplete. Later, scripting the “composition topic,” our group deliberated on “how to become an exceptional hypnotist,” struggling to ascertain the starting point, resulting in mustering an empty attempt at a script that seemed comical. However, after hearing Junyan and their group’s sharing, the realization dawned, empathizing and unlocking emotional energy. The major hiccup stemmed from not wholly grasping Teacher Liu’s essence, understanding only partially, seeming to understand without comprehension—this warrants a focus on further learning, asking more questions, diversified reading, and rigorous practice.
Recapping the day’s activities, revisiting note-filled books, numerous classroom scenes returned. Over three days, we learned the basics of hypnosis craft, truly experiencing what hypnosis entails. Acknowledging that hypnosis involves subject condensing consciousness, meaning the foundation of subconscious work. An appreciation of Teacher Liu’s systematic hypnotherapy concept is ingrained. Acclimating to induction techniques, understanding the flow of progression are strides taken. Hypnotizing children and elders at home, offering hypnosis to friends, and self-hypnotizing is the prime takeaway.
Sensing a surge of inner strength, trusting that I can evolve into a proficient hypnotherapist.
