Care considerations for babies aged 1.5 to 2 years old

Must read

Baby’s height development is a complex process, influenced by various factors such as genetics, living environment, diet structure, and health conditions. Even if the parents are not tall, through scientific and reasonable parenting, including rich nutrition and sufficient rest, they can still help children achieve their ideal height.

Balanced nutrition is key to promoting children’s height growth. Protein, as a core nutrient for growth and development, should be ensured in appropriate amounts daily, with main sources including meat, offal, eggs, dairy products, and seafood. Although soy products are rich in protein, for children, moderation is key, with two meals a week being optimal. Calcium is crucial for bone growth, and milk is the preferred choice for calcium supplementation, with a recommended daily intake of about 500 grams. Vegetables, bean curd, and shrimp are also good sources of calcium, but excessive calcium supplementation should be avoided to prevent hypercalcemia. Additionally, vitamins, micronutrients, especially zinc, are equally important for a child’s overall development, with fresh fruits and vegetables and seafood being excellent sources of these nutrients. Carbohydrates and fats as energy sources should not be overlooked, while sweet intake should be limited to avoid affecting height growth.

High-quality sleep is extremely important for promoting height growth. The period from 10 pm to 2 am is the peak time for growth hormone secretion, with the amount secreted during deep sleep being about three times that when awake. Ensuring that children get at least 9 hours of high-quality sleep each night can effectively stimulate growth hormone secretion, helping children grow healthily during sleep.

As children’s hand dexterity improves, they may prefer using their left hand. Parents need not worry excessively or forcefully correct this, to avoid suppressing the child’s interest and confidence in exploring new things. When a child shows interest in writing, they can be gently guided to use their right hand, but the most important thing is to ensure the child grows freely, healthily, and happily.

During the growth process, children may exhibit behavioral “regression,” such as going back to using their hands to eat, preferring the bottle, or becoming more dependent on being carried by parents. This is a normal stage of development, and parents need to be patient, creating an environment that encourages exploration and interest cultivation, allowing children to progress gradually through repeated attempts, rather than overly enforcing rapid growth.
