For babies around seven months old, parents usually consider starting the weaning process and gradually guide their baby to accept complementary foods to ease the difficulty of weaning. At this stage, there are many suitable options for complementary food, such as small dumplings and small noodles. But how can we make nutritious meat puree suitable for a 7-month-old baby at home?
The ingredients needed are simple: minced pork, carrots, a small amount of ginger, and olive oil. The steps for preparation are as follows:
1. Shape the minced pork into small meatballs and boil them in a pot, remembering to add a slice of ginger to eliminate the odor. At the same time, place peeled carrot pieces in a steamer to steam for about ten minutes, so that the carrots and meatballs can be cooked together. 2. Put the steamed carrots and minced pork into a food processor and blend them into a puree. During this process, you can add a little olive oil, which not only helps improve the absorption of carotenoids but also makes the meat puree smoother. 3. Finally, mix the prepared carrot meat puree into rice flour, rice porridge, or noodles. This meat puree is delicate and smooth, almost melting in the mouth, with no fishy taste, and is very loved by babies.
Here are some small suggestions:
For younger babies, the meat puree should be made finer to facilitate digestion; older babies can have some texture left in the meat to help exercise their chewing.
If the baby can accept egg yolk, consider adding it to the meat puree to increase nutrition.
There is no need to add extra water when making the meat puree, as steaming the carrots will naturally release moisture, which mixes with the meat puree, not only maintaining the nutritional integrity of the food but also ensuring the meat stays tender and moist.
In addition to carrots, the vegetables in the meat puree can be flexibly replaced with broccoli puree, potato puree, yam puree, etc., to enrich the baby’s taste and nutritional intake.
The remaining meat puree can be stored in a complementary food container and kept in the refrigerator, and it is recommended to consume it within two to three days.
Every time I see my baby enjoying the complementary food I prepared with care, my heart is filled with happiness and a sense of fulfillment.
