Menopause in women is better the later, at which age group is menopause just right?

Must read

Menopause marks the decline of ovarian function and the end of fertility in women, representing a significant physiological turning point. There are differing views on the optimal age for menopause. Some believe that a later menopause indicates better ovarian preservation and health status, while others point out that a delayed menopause may come with health risks.

The menopausal process in women can generally be divided into three stages: perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. During perimenopause, menstrual flow gradually decreases alongside endocrine changes; menopause refers to the complete cessation of menstruation, followed by postmenopause. Menopause typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, with the average age of menopause for Chinese women being around 49, influenced by factors such as genetics and lifestyle habits.

A later menopause does not necessarily confer benefits. While a delayed menopause may be associated with higher estrogen levels, beneficial for certain aspects of health, it may also increase the risk of hormone-related tumors (such as breast cancer, endometrial cancer), cardiovascular diseases, fractures, and neurological disorders (such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease).

Ideally, menopause between the ages of 45 and 55 is considered within the normal physiological range, aiding in reducing specific health risks. However, individual circumstances need personalized consideration, including the stability of menstrual cycles, symptoms during perimenopause, bone density, cardiovascular condition, and risk factors for gynecological cancers, among others.

In the face of menopause, it is important to accept this natural physiological process and avoid unnecessary interventions. Postmenopause, women should enhance their health management through regular check-ups, balanced diet, moderate exercise, and attention to mental well-being, actively coping with life changes, and enhancing quality of life through social interactions and hobbies.

In conclusion, understanding the natural course of menopause, focusing on personal health, maintaining an optimistic attitude are key for women to enjoy a healthy and fulfilling life.
