Doctors repeatedly remind: These seemingly insignificant habits may very well leave the kidneys “full of stones.”

The kidneys are vital functional organs in our bodies, primarily responsible for maintaining water balance. Since we need to replenish our bodies with a large amount of water every day, only a small portion is absorbed, while most circulates through various organs for a week before being excreted by the kidneys. What it excretes is not only water but also metabolic waste and bacteria within the body. Especially crucial for males, besides balancing water, they also determine the secretion levels of male hormones, organ activity, and even the physical strength of males. It plays a decisive role in the harmonious relationship between spouses, so taking care of the kidneys is extremely important.

The kidneys can be said to be the most fragile organ in our bodies, and once a problem occurs, recovery is challenging, affecting the operation of various organs in the body, such as common kidney qi loss, renal function decline, etc. However, the most critical issue to note is the formation of stones in the kidneys because many people nowadays have various unhealthy habits that can lead to abnormal kidney metabolism. This can result in a large accumulation of substances depositing in the kidney region over the long term, forming stones that are difficult to metabolize.

First, attention should be paid to improper diet. Nowadays, people are less concerned about the nutrition and hygiene of food choices, focusing solely on personal preferences and taste, leading to many people developing the habit of improper eating habits. They not only consume a large amount of unclean food but also neglect the combination of foods. Many foods individually may not be a problem, but when consumed together, reactions can easily occur. For example, tofu and leafy green vegetables are both rich in nutrients, but tofu contains a significant amount of calcium elements, while leafy greens contain folic acid. When consumed together, they can produce sediment that cannot be eliminated or digested, causing significant harm to the kidneys.

Another concern is prolonged sitting time. In today’s work pattern, we are required to sit in front of the computer for hours every day, which not only compresses the lower limbs affecting blood circulation but also easily harms the kidneys. This can lead to the abnormal metabolism of body fluids, accumulating in the kidney region for a long time, easily causing a large amount of substance deposition. The more it accumulates, the more likely the kidneys will be filled with stones.

The habit of not drinking enough water needs to be corrected promptly. Many people are too busy with work and even have no time to drink water regularly, usually drinking only when thirsty. This not only causes severe dehydration but also makes the blood more viscous, impacting kidney metabolism. The frequency of urination will significantly decrease, waste in the kidney region will accumulate more, as it cannot be promptly excreted, making it easy to form crystals and develop stones. Therefore, it is hoped that everyone can develop the good habit of drinking water every day.

Lastly, improper rehydration habits should also be noted. Although everyone knows the benefits of drinking water for the body, many find plain water tasteless and unappealing, leading them to use various beverages or teas as water substitutes. However, these fluids can cause significant stimulation to the kidneys, seriously increasing the metabolic burden on the kidneys, resulting in the formation of a large amount of hard sediment inside the kidneys.
