Low Body Mass Index (BMI), that is, the high-thin physique population is more prone to developing varicocele. Most studies on BMI report a negative correlation between the incidence of varicocele and BMI. A survey of adult males in China showed that the incidence of varicocele in the low BMI (<18.50kg/m2) population was higher than that in the normal BMI population; moreover, the degree of varicocele was also negatively correlated with the BMI index. Other studies have found that males with varicocele have a lower BMI than males without the disease.
