Urinary tract infection is no longer exclusive to women nowadays; many men also suffer from it. Therefore, we must take relevant protective and therapeutic measures against urinary tract infections in our daily lives. Before carrying out related prevention and control work, we must first identify the root causes of urinary tract infections in order to treat them properly. The main reasons that cause male friends to suffer from urinary tract infections include the following:
1. Urethral obstruction: There are various factors that can cause male urethral obstruction, with common ones being phimosis, urethral stricture, foreign objects in the urethra, urethral tumors, and urethral calculi. The occurrence of these conditions can affect the patency of the male patients’ urethra, leading to urethral obstruction, bacterial growth, and the development of urinary tract infections.
2. Urinary system diseases: If neighboring organs experience inflammation that is not promptly controlled and treated, the inflammation can spread to the urethra and cause urinary tract infections. These neighboring organ inflammations include epididymitis, orchitis, and prostatitis.
3. Mechanical or chemical irritation can also cause urinary tract infections, such as indwelling urinary catheters and mechanical examinations of the urethra.
4. Unhygienic sexual practices: Contemporary young people have a more liberal attitude towards sexuality, which may lead to chaotic sexual practices and consequently increase the risk of infection and injury from sexually transmitted diseases, resulting in the occurrence of urinary tract infections.
