Lycium has many benefits, but never eat it “this way,” otherwise it will harm your body.

Although there are many benefits to wolfberry, don’t eat it in this way, or you’ll be harming your body

I increasingly believe in the saying: “Heaven bestows gifts on those with diligence.” Almost all things in nature have their own specific purposes. If something is still considered waste up to now, then surely no one has been able to discover its true value. Wolfberry is a good example of this. There was a time when wolfberry was considered a weed. It grew unnoticed in fields, but with the changing seasons, it suddenly caught people’s attention and through research, its numerous benefits were discovered. Consequently, wolfberry became a sought-after health tonic, with almost everyone adding a few pieces of wolfberry to their water, believing this is the way to ensure good health.

However, everything has two sides. Even ginseng can be life-threatening if consumed incorrectly, and even poison can be a life-saving antidote if used correctly. The same applies to wolfberry. While it has many benefits, they all depend on the correct way of usage. Using it improperly not only yields no benefits but can also harm the body. Yet, many people are unaware of the correct way to use wolfberry.

Not cleaning before soaking

I believe many people usually just put wolfberries directly into water to soak without going through a proper cleaning process. Little do they know, the dried wolfberries we use are basically fresh wolfberries left to sun-dry without any form of protection, so they easily accumulate dust on the surface. Directly soaking them without proper cleaning can lead to bacterial infections. It’s recommended to thoroughly wash the wolfberries before soaking, especially focusing on the creases where dust tends to reside. Also, avoid using freshly boiled water to soak wolfberries as they are sensitive to high temperatures, which can damage their nutritional structure.

Overconsumption

It’s well known that wolfberries are rich in nutrients. They contain abundant vitamins that can effectively enhance the body’s constitution, delay aging, and offer liver protection through the significant presence of theophylline. Additionally, they nourish the kidneys, aid in digestion, and offer numerous other benefits to the body. It’s no wonder that many people crazily consume them for health maintenance. However, our bodies have a saturation point for absorbing any substance, so exceeding this limit not only negates the nourishing effects but may also burden the body’s absorption process.

Combining wolfberries with dairy products

Our daily lives involve various dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and cheese, all of which are rich in nutrients like wolfberries. Yet, combining them in consumption will undoubtedly harm the body. This is because wolfberries contain abundant pectin and fruit acids, while dairy products are rich in proteins. Consuming them together not only causes the loss of nutritional components from both sources but can also lead to reactions that form deposits in the body, burdening the metabolism and potentially causing the formation of stones.

The proper way to consume wolfberries

Though there are many ways to consume wolfberries, the most suitable method, considering the body’s absorption capacity and the retention of nutritional components, is to consume them raw. Simply put wolfberries in your mouth and chew them, after ensuring they are washed properly, to retain all their nutritional benefits without any loss. Alternatively, soaking them in water and drinking the infused water is another good method as it allows the components of wolfberries to dissolve in the water. After finishing the water, ensure to eat the soaked wolfberries to maximize the nourishing effects. Finally, it’s essential to control the daily intake of wolfberries, keeping it around 30 grams is sufficient.
