As the pace of life accelerates, many people today face enormous life and work pressures. If one cannot adjust their mindset in a timely manner during such times, it is easy to develop psychological problems. The incidence of depression is also rising year by year, and many individuals in society harbor discrimination against those with depressive conditions, while many believe that depression is far removed from themselves. In fact, the occurrence of depression is very close to each of us, and mild depression has a strong tendency to go unnoticed in daily life. So what common phrases do people with mild depression tend to say?

1. People with mild depression often say they feel life is meaningless or that they are just going through the motions. Depression is a kind of hormonal imbalance in the human body, which can affect a person’s emotions. Prolonged feelings of depression can also impact hormone secretion, leading to an excess of inhibitory neurotransmitters, which can easily result in a low mood. As a result, these individuals often lose interest in life and feel gloomy every day, frequently expressing that life lacks meaning. They may feel that their existence does not bring much benefit to others or society, feeling devoid of any motivation to live. Consequently, they may frequently express sentiments like “life is really meaningless.” For those who often feel this way, it is crucial to seek help from those around them.

2. People with mild depression typically express feelings of worthlessness, often thinking that everything is their fault. Everyone encounters various setbacks throughout their lives and faces different stressors. For individuals with mild depression, when facing stressful life events, they often tend to blame themselves for the mistakes. When parents divorce, for instance, these individuals might say it is all due to their own faults that caused the divorce. They often believe their existence brings inconvenience and harm to others, and they cannot see their own merits. Regardless of the situation they encounter in life, they frequently declare that it is all their fault, feeling utterly useless and unable to do anything right. This severe sense of self-blame is a very typical characteristic of mild depression.

3. People with depression often claim they have no appetite. Many experience this situation; during stressful times such as exams or times of low mood, appetite significantly decreases. Conversely, when encountering joyful events, appetite tends to be good. Individuals with mild depression often feel a lack of appetite. When feeling particularly low, they may show no interest even in foods they used to love. Therefore, if for a period of time, one suddenly finds themselves proclaiming a lack of appetite for any food, it is essential to adjust their mood; otherwise, they may easily fall into a depressive tendency.

4. People with mild depression often say they feel extremely tired. The emergence of depression is not just a psychological issue, but it can also affect the function of various organs in the body. Those with mild depression often experience some sleep issues. Sleep is an important way for the body to restore energy, but those with depression frequently struggle to sleep at night, which leads to feelings of extreme fatigue during the day. Consequently, when working during the day, they often appear listless and frequently feel mentally foggy. Thus, for those who often feel extremely fatigued, it is quite possible they are experiencing mild depression.
