Must read

Before and after the White Dew, this vegetable comes into market in large quantities. It’s high in potassium and protein, and particularly nutritious, making you feel energetic when consumed regularly!

Before we know it, we’re approaching the third solar term of autumn – the White Dew solar term. As the saying goes, “Do not expose your body during White Dew.” The arrival of this solar term marks a transition from hot to cool weather. By this time, the weather has already started to cool down, with larger temperature differences between day and night. Late autumn is approaching, so it’s best to avoid wearing revealing clothing to prevent catching a cold. This is quite a relief for many people, as they no longer have to deal with excessive sweating every day. However, we shouldn’t be too quick to celebrate, as the weather after White Dew may still be warm. I remember wearing short sleeves on October 1st last year! Therefore, we must still pay attention to keeping cool and preventing heat, while also ensuring we moisturize our lungs to prevent dryness and appropriately replenish nutrition, particularly protein and potassium.

In fact, nature has arranged everything for us. During this season, a high-potassium and high-protein vegetable is coming into market in large quantities — edamame. Edamame is the immature form of soybeans, and it contains a wealth of high-quality plant protein, carbohydrates, various vitamins, dietary fiber, and trace elements such as calcium, potassium, and magnesium. Eating it can replenish the nutrients our bodies need, while also clearing heat and dryness, nourishing weakness, strengthening the spleen, and beautifying the skin. It is high in moisture and low in calories, giving a sense of fullness, making it a great choice for weight loss. The rich potassium content can also alleviate fatigue caused by potassium deficiency, leaving people feeling energized. So this season, let’s eat more edamame.

The most common and classic way to prepare edamame is simply boiling it, resulting in a soft, sticky, and fragrant dish that is particularly delicious. Besides boiling, there are many ways to enjoy edamame. Today, I’ll share three different ways to prepare edamame. Let’s take a look!

First method: 【Braised Chicken with Edamame】

Main ingredients: chicken, edamame.

Seasonings: cooking oil, salt, scallions, ginger, cooking wine, soy sauce, oyster sauce.

Steps: 1. After cutting the chicken into pieces, marinate it with salt, cooking wine, scallions, and ginger to eliminate the odor. Remove the beans from the edamame and set them aside on a plate.

2. Heat cooking oil in a pan, add the chicken pieces and stir-fry until they change color. Then add chopped scallions, ginger slices, and cooking wine to sauté until fragrant. Next, add soy sauce to color the dish, followed by the shelled edamame, and stir well.

3. Finally, add water, bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer until the chicken is tender. At this point, the edamame will also be soft and flavorful. Increase heat to reduce the sauce, then serve.

Second method: 【Pickled Cucumber with Edamame】

Main ingredients: pickled cucumbers, edamame.

Seasonings: cooking oil, salt, chicken essence.

Steps: 1. While pickled cucumbers and edamame may not seem to go together, they blend beautifully in this seasonal dish. Wash and slice the pickled cucumbers, and set the shelled edamame aside on a plate.

2. Once preparations are complete, heat cooking oil in a pan, add the edamame, and stir-fry until they change color. Then add the pickled cucumbers and stir-fry evenly.

3. Next, add a small amount of water, bring to a boil over high heat, then let simmer for a bit. Since pickled cucumbers contain salt, taste first before adding more salt for seasoning. Finally, add chicken essence for a boost of flavor, and then serve.

Third method: 【Stir-fried Edamame with Water Bamboo】

Main ingredients: fresh edamame, tender water bamboo.

Seasonings: cooking oil, salt, chicken essence.

Steps: 1. Shell the edamame and set them aside in a bowl. Clean the water bamboo, slice it thinly, then cut into fine strips. Blanch the strips in boiling water and set aside.

2. Heat cooking oil in a pan, add the edamame, and stir-fry until they change color. Then add the water bamboo strips and stir-fry evenly.

3. After mixing well, add salt and stir evenly. Then add water, bring to a boil over high heat, and continue simmering for 1 minute. Finally, add chicken essence for flavor, stir well again, and then turn off the heat to serve.

These are three delicious ways to prepare edamame. Friends, do you like edamame? How do you usually prepare it? Feel free to leave your comments in the message area!
