High blood pressure, high blood lipids, and high blood sugar are the “three highs” we are familiar with, and they are three major health killers. However, in recent years, the fourth high has quietly emerged – it is high uric acid! This condition is not only seen in the elderly; many young people have also unknowingly become “affected,” and many friends around me have issues with gout. Today, I will share “3 types of fruits and 3 types of water” that high uric acid patients can consume to help lower their uric acid levels day by day!
Don’t be afraid of high uric acid, just remember to “eat more fruits and drink more water” – uric acid levels won’t just decrease!
1. Eat more fruits
1. Apples
You often hear people say, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” which shows that the medicinal benefits of apples are excellent. Apples are highly alkaline foods that can quickly neutralize harmful acidic substances in the body, thereby aiding in the elimination of uric acid. You can eat about 2 apples a day.
2. Bananas
Bananas are rich in potassium, which can effectively prevent the precipitation of uric acid salts. Additionally, bananas promote bowel movements and are low in calories, making them an excellent choice for those with high uric acid and obesity. However, moderation is key; eating 1-2 bananas a day is sufficient.
3. Grapes
Grapes are also highly alkaline foods, known for their neutral and sweet taste. They can nourish the liver and kidneys, promote fluid production, and enhance blood qi. Eating grapes regularly can promote urination and help the kidneys eliminate uric acid. Grapes have very low purine content, making them suitable for those with high uric acid levels.
2. Drink more water
1. Chicory tea
Chicory is known as the “nemesis” of gout; it can be consumed as food and also used medicinally. Chicory root is rich in chicory polysaccharides, which can effectively help lower uric acid levels and assist in regulating blood lipids and blood sugar; it is very suitable for those with the “four highs.”
2. Cool boiled water
We all know that drinking plenty of water is beneficial for the body, especially for high uric acid patients. Ensuring adequate daily water intake can help the kidneys expel uric acid, allowing it to be eliminated through urine, which helps detoxify the kidneys.
3. Soda water
The main component of soda water is sodium bicarbonate. While sodium bicarbonate does not help reduce uric acid in the body, it can effectively alkalize urine, ensuring that uric acid fully dissolves in urine and is expelled. However, it’s important to note that many commercially available soda waters contain high levels of sugar and calories, which may hinder uric acid elimination. It is recommended to make soda water at home for a safer and healthier option.
Dietary restrictions for high uric acid:
Beer: Beer contains a large amount of purines, and one bottle of beer can double uric acid levels.
Hotpot: A round of hotpot has ten to even dozens of times more purines than a full meal.
Seafood: High purine seafood includes anchovies, sardines, ribbonfish, herring, mackerel, oysters, clams, and scallops.
