My country has a high prevalence of hypertension, with a significant number of patients dying from hypertension-related complications. Moreover, with economic development, the incidence of hypertension is increasingly occurring in younger individuals. If not addressed, more people will develop hypertension, leading to a higher number of deaths due to complications from the condition.

So, what can patients with hypertension do to prevent it and reduce the risk of death?

1. Research Findings: Eating More of These Two Fruits Can Lower the Risk of Death from Hypertension

Researchers from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University published a study on hypertension, which shows that regularly consuming these two fruits can lower the risk of death from hypertension by as much as 40%.

This was reported in a research article published in the journal “Frontiers in Nutrition,” which indicates that hypertension patients who frequently eat bananas and apples may see a reduction in their risk of dying from hypertension, with the greatest benefits when both fruits are consumed together.

During their investigation, researchers analyzed 2,480 hypertension patients from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database, focusing on their fruit consumption habits (primarily the types of fruit and frequency of consumption). They categorized these individuals by their frequency of fruit intake: at least once a month, 1-3 times a month, 1-2 times a week, 3-6 times a week, once a day, or multiple times a day.

Researchers found that the fruits most commonly purchased by these hypertension patients included apples, bananas, pears, pineapples, and grapes, with a few other fruits as well, but primarily these varieties.
